cPanel is the control panel behind every Domain India shared, business and reseller hosting account. You can open it in one click from the Client Portal, or go straight to the panel with the details from your welcome email. This guide covers both routes and the six reasons a login usually fails. It describes the Client Portal as it is on 6 September 2026.

TL;DR

Three ways into cPanel. (1) Sign in to the Client Portal, open Services › My Hosting, click the cPanel button next to your domain. No cPanel password needed. (2) Go to https://yourdomain.com:2083 and sign in with the cPanel username and password from your "Your Hosting Account is Ready" email. (3) Before your domain points to us, use the server address from the same email instead: https://server-name:2083.

The portal signs you into cPanel for you, so this route works even if you have never seen your cPanel password.

  1. Go to the Client Portal sign-in page and sign in with the email address and password of your Domain India account. Forgot it? Use the password reset page.
  2. In the left menu open Services, then My Hosting. Every hosting account you own is listed with its domain, plan and status.
  3. On the row for your domain, click the cPanel button (the one with the small external-link arrow). A new tab opens, already signed in. Or click Manage to open the account page first, where the same action is the Open cPanel button at the top.
  4. If the row shows Pay now instead, the account has an unpaid invoice. Pay it, and the cPanel button appears once the account is activated.
Pop-up blocked?

cPanel opens in a new tab. If nothing appears, look for a blocked pop-up icon in your browser's address bar, allow pop-ups for domainindia.com, and click the button again.

2. Direct login with your cPanel username

Use this when you want to bookmark cPanel, hand access to a developer, or the portal is not to hand.

https://yourdomain.com/cpanelSame as above; cPanel redirects this to port 2083cPanel username + cPanel password
https://server-name:2083Domain not yet pointed, or DNS still propagatingcPanel username + cPanel password

Your cPanel username, the server name and the initial password are in the email titled Your Hosting Account is Ready - yourdomain.com. You can re-read it any time: in the Client Portal open your account menu, choose Email history, and open that email.

You can also see the username, server IP and panel address without the email: open Services › My Hosting, click Manage on the account, then the Login details tab.

Two different passwords

Your Domain India account password (the one for the Client Portal) and your cPanel password are separate. Changing one never changes the other. If you have only ever used the portal, the cPanel password is still the one from the welcome email, unless you reset it.

3. Reset the cPanel password

If the welcome-email password no longer works, reset it from the portal. No ticket needed.

  1. Sign in to the Client Portal and open Services › My Hosting.
  2. Click Manage on the account, then open the Login details tab.
  3. Click Reset password, choose a new password and save it.
  4. Sign in at https://yourdomain.com:2083 with the cPanel username shown on the same tab and the new password.

Suspended accounts

If the status column says Suspended, cPanel logins are refused until the account is reinstated. The usual cause is an overdue renewal; pay the invoice under Orders & Billing › Invoices and the account is reinstated automatically. For any other suspension, open a ticket and quote your domain.

5. When to open a ticket

Open a support ticket with your domain name and a screenshot of the error if:

  • the account has been Active for more than 24 hours and Open cPanel still opens a login form that rejects a freshly reset password;
  • the Login details tab shows no username;
  • you need cPanel access for a domain that is not in your Client Portal at all (it may sit under another Domain India account).

Never send passwords in a ticket. Support will never ask for your cPanel password; if a reset is needed, it is done from the portal.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a cPanel password to use the Client Portal button?

No. The portal's cPanel / Open cPanel button signs you in with a one-time session. You only need the cPanel password for direct logins at :2083.

Is cPanel included with every hosting plan?

cPanel comes with our cPanel shared, business and reseller plans. DirectAdmin, Plesk and Webuzo plans show a differently named button on the same page, for example Open DirectAdmin, and the direct-login port differs (2222 for DirectAdmin, 8443 for Plesk). The Client Portal steps above are the same.

I have reseller hosting. Where is WHM?

On a reseller account the button reads Open WHM and opens WebHost Manager. Individual cPanel accounts you created are reached from inside WHM under List Accounts.

Can I give my web designer cPanel access without sharing my Domain India login?

Yes. Give them the cPanel username, the server name and a cPanel password you set in section 3. They never need your portal password. Change the cPanel password again when the work is done.

Why does http://yourdomain.com/cpanel not work?

cPanel only redirects that path once the domain resolves to the hosting server. Until then use https://server-name:2083.

Locked out? Reset it yourself in a minute

Open Services › My Hosting, click Manage, then Login details to reset the cPanel password or copy your panel address.
