How to View and Manage Your Domains

Your Domain India Client Portal gives you full control over your registered domains. This guide covers everything from viewing your domain list to configuring DNS, nameservers, auto-renew, and domain locks.

Accessing Your Domains

1. Log in at https://domainindia.com/support/client
2. Click Domains in the main navigation menu
3. You will see a list of all domains in your account with their status and expiry date

Managing a Domain

Click on any domain name to open the management page. From here, you can perform the following actions:

Changing Nameservers

Nameservers control where your domain points. To update them:

1. Open the domain management page
2. Find the Nameservers section
3. Select Custom Nameservers
4. Enter the new nameserver addresses (e.g., ns1.example.com, ns2.example.com)
5. Click Save Changes

Tip: If you purchased hosting from Domain India, your nameservers will typically be configured automatically. Only change them if you know what you are doing.

Managing DNS Records

If your domain uses Domain India nameservers, you can manage DNS records directly:

1. Go to the DNS Management section
2. You can add, edit, or delete records:

- A Record — Points a domain to an IP address

- CNAME Record — Creates an alias from one domain to another

- MX Record — Directs email to your mail server

- TXT Record — Used for verification (SPF, DKIM, Google Workspace, etc.)

- AAAA Record — Points a domain to an IPv6 address

1. Click Add Record and fill in the required fields
2. DNS changes typically propagate within 1-4 hours, but can take up to 48 hours globally

Enabling Auto-Renew

To avoid accidentally losing your domain:

1. Go to the domain management page
2. Find the Auto-Renew toggle
3. Enable it to ensure a renewal invoice is generated before the domain expires

Tip: Even with auto-renew enabled, you still need to pay the generated invoice. We recommend keeping a payment method ready or paying renewal invoices promptly.

Domain Lock (Transfer Lock)

Domain lock prevents unauthorized transfers of your domain to another registrar:

1. Go to the domain management page
2. Find the Domain Lock or Transfer Lock option
3. Ensure it is Enabled (this is the default)
4. Only disable it when you intentionally want to transfer the domain away

Viewing WHOIS Information

Your domain's WHOIS information is set from your account's contact profile. To update it:

1. Go to Account Settings > Contact Profiles
2. Update your details there
3. Changes will reflect in WHOIS records after processing

Tip: For .in domains, WHOIS privacy is handled automatically by the registry (NIXI) — no separate purchase is needed.

Troubleshooting

• Domain shows Expired? Check your invoices for an unpaid renewal invoice. Pay it to restore the domain. Most TLDs have a grace period of 30 days after expiry.
• DNS changes not reflecting? DNS propagation takes time. Wait 4-48 hours. You can check propagation status using online tools like whatsmydns.net.
• Cannot change nameservers? Ensure the domain lock is disabled. Some TLDs restrict nameserver changes during certain periods.
• Domain transfer pending? Transfers typically take 5-7 days. Check your email for a transfer approval request.
