You have bought a Domain India hosting plan, or you are about to. Getting a website live takes five steps: wait for the account, log in to your control panel, point your domain at the hosting, check SSL, then put your site in place. After you pay, most hosting accounts are created automatically within a couple of minutes, and you receive an email titled "Your Hosting Account is Ready". Log in to your control panel from the client area, point your domain at the hosting using the details on your hosting service's page, let free SSL be issued, then install WordPress or upload your files to public_html. Create your email accounts in the same panel.
1. Order and wait for the welcome email
Order from the client area (Order New): choose the service, then your domain (new, or "Use existing" for one you already own), then the plan and, for a new domain, its nameservers. Review the order and choose Proceed to Payment.
Most hosting accounts are created automatically within a couple of minutes of payment; a small number need a manual check and take longer. When the account is ready you receive an email titled "Your Hosting Account is Ready" with your panel address and username. Lost it? 2. The five steps to a live website
- Log in to your control panel.Sign in to the client area and open your hosting services. The button on your domain's row signs you straight in to cPanel or DirectAdmin; on Webuzo it opens the login page. Manage › Access shows your username, server IP and panel address. - Point your domain at the hosting.Your hosting service's page shows the nameservers to use, or the server IP for A records. Copy the values from your own account and enter them where the domain is registered. See how do I change my nameservers.
- Wait for DNS to update.A nameserver change usually takes effect within a few hours and can take up to 24-48 hours to reach every network. You can work in your panel in the meantime.
- Check SSL.Free SSL is issued once the domain points at the server; on cPanel this happens automatically. Your site then opens on
https://. See how to enable free SSL. - Put your website in place.Install WordPress with the panel's installer, or upload your own files (section 3).
Changing nameservers moves all of the domain's DNS, including email. If your email already runs somewhere else, keep your current DNS and add A records for @ and www instead.
3. Upload your site or install WordPress
- WordPress: Softaculous is on all three Linux panels, and cPanel also has WP Toolkit. Either one creates the database and installs WordPress in a few minutes.
- Your own files: upload them to the folder your domain serves:
public_htmlon cPanel and Webuzo,domains/yourdomain.in/public_htmlon DirectAdmin. - SSH: jailed SSH access is available on every shared hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo). It is off by default; ask support to enable it for your account. Windows (Plesk) hosting has no SSH.
4. Create your email accounts
