Unable to log in? At Domain India you have several separate logins: your client area, your control panel, each email mailbox, your WordPress dashboard and any FTP accounts. Each has its own password, and each fails for different reasons. This guide helps you work out which login is failing, and gives the fix for each one.

Key takeaways

First work out which login is failing. Client area (domainindia.com/client/login): use Forgot password?, whose link lasts one hour; after 10 failed sign-ins in 15 minutes the email is locked for up to 15 minutes. cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk: skip the password and click the panel button under Hosting › My hosting, or reset it on the account's Access tab. Webmail: use the full email address, and reset the mailbox password in your control panel. Works on mobile data but not at the office? Your IP address is probably blocked after failed logins; send your public IP address to support. Lost your 2FA phone? Open a ticket from your account email.

1. Which login is failing?

Where you are trying to log inThe addressIts passwordFix it in
Your Domain India account (domains, hosting, invoices)domainindia.com/client/loginYour client-area password, or Sign in with GoogleSection 2
Your control panel (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo, Plesk)The panel button in the client area, or yourdomain.com:2083 / :2222 / :8443The control panel passwordSection 3
Your email (webmail, Outlook, phone mail app)yourdomain.com/webmail, or mail.yourdomain.com:8443 for Business EmailThat mailbox's own passwordSection 4
Your website's WordPress dashboardyourdomain.com/wp-adminYour WordPress user's passwordSection 5
FTP, or a login page that won't load at allYour FTP program, or any of the above—Section 6

Changing one of these passwords never changes the others. A new client-area password won't fix a webmail login, and a new cPanel password won't fix WordPress.

2. Can't log in to your Domain India account

  1. Check the address.
    Sign in at domainindia.com/client/login; typing domainindia.com/login takes you to the same page. Use the email address your Domain India account was registered with.
  2. Forgot the password?
    Click Forgot password?, or go to /client/forgot, enter your account email and click Send Reset Link. The link expires in one hour. No email? Check spam, and make sure you typed the email you registered with.
  3. "Too many attempts"?
    After 10 failed sign-ins in 15 minutes, sign-ins for that email are locked for up to 15 minutes. A password reset does not lift the lock, so wait it out. An old password saved in a browser or password manager can trigger it in the background.
  4. You use Google?
    Click Sign in with Google with the Google account whose email matches your Domain India account. A different Google address signs you in to an account that doesn't have your services.
  5. Two-factor code rejected?
    Wait for the next code and set your phone to automatic date and time. At sign-in the code box accepts six-digit authenticator codes only.

Lost the phone with your authenticator app, or no longer have access to your account email? Open a ticket from the public ticket form with your name and a domain on the account, and support will tell you what is needed to confirm the account is yours. The full guides are How to log in to your account and How to enable two-factor authentication.

3. Can't log in to cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk

Fastest: don't use the panel password at all. Sign in to the client area, open Hosting › My hosting, and click the cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk button on your domain's row. It opens the panel already signed in. The Webuzo button opens the Webuzo login page, where you still enter your Webuzo username and password.

Logging in directly? Use the username from your welcome email or the account's Access tab, not your email address. The direct addresses are:

  • cPanel: https://yourdomain.com:2083
  • DirectAdmin: https://yourdomain.com:2222
  • Plesk: https://yourdomain.com:8443
  • Webuzo: the Panel URL on the account's Access tab

If your domain doesn't point at our servers yet, use the server hostname or IP address shown on the Access tab instead of your domain.

Forgot the panel password? Nobody can read your old password back to you, but you can set a new one. For cPanel, DirectAdmin and Plesk, open the account from Hosting › My hosting, go to the Access tab and use Reset password. For a forgotten Webuzo password, contact support.

If the hosting account is suspended, for example over an unpaid invoice, the panel login won't work until it is active again: pay the invoice or contact support.

Step-by-step guides: cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo, Plesk, and resetting a control panel password.

4. Can't log in to your email

  1. Use the full email address
    as the username, for example [email protected], not just you.
  2. Use the right webmail address.
    On cPanel hosting it is https://yourdomain.com/webmail. On DirectAdmin and Webuzo hosting it is also https://yourdomain.com/webmail. Business Email has its own address: https://mail.yourdomain.com:8443/.
  3. Type the password rather than pasting it.
    A pasted password often carries an extra space, and Caps Lock is a common culprit.
  4. Reset the mailbox password if you still can't get in.
    On hosting, do this in your control panel's email accounts screen. On Business Email, open your Business Email service in the client area and click Reset password for the mailbox.
  5. Update every device.
    After a reset, change the saved password in Outlook, your phone's mail app and any other device. An old password retrying in the background can get your IP address blocked (section 6).

The full guide is How to log in to webmail.

5. Can't log in to WordPress

Your WordPress dashboard has its own users and passwords, separate from your client area, control panel and email.

  • Go to https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin and use your WordPress username or email.
  • Forgot it? Click Lost your password? on the WordPress login page. WordPress emails a reset link to the email address of that WordPress user, which may be an old address set up by whoever built the site.
  • If the reset email never arrives, or a security plugin has locked you out, open a ticket with your domain name and the WordPress username, and support will tell you the options for your site.

6. The login page won't load, or FTP keeps failing

If a login page times out on your office or home connection but works on mobile data, or for someone else, your IP address has most likely been blocked by the hosting server's firewall after repeated failed logins. The client area still works.

On our cPanel and DirectAdmin servers:

  • email and password-protected folder blocks lift after one hour;
  • cPanel and FTP blocks on cPanel servers lift after 30 minutes;
  • four temporary blocks within 24 hours become a permanent block;
  • failed SSH logins lead to a permanent block.
Stop retrying, and fix the device first

Every further attempt can extend the block. Find the phone, laptop, mail app or FTP program still using an old password and correct it. Then send your public IP address (search "what is my IP" to find it) and your domain name to support by live chat or a ticket.

FTP uses the FTP account's own username and password, which you set in your control panel. Wrong saved FTP passwords are a common cause of blocks. More detail: I can't reach my server: have I been blocked? and Resolving temporary IP blocks.

7. When to contact support, and what to send

Support is available on 24/7 live chat, and tickets get a first response within 15 minutes. There is no phone support. To get help fastest, send:

  • which login is failing (client area, control panel, email, WordPress or FTP);
  • your domain name, and the email address on your Domain India account;
  • the exact error message, or a screenshot of it;
  • your public IP address if a page won't load.

Never send a password, a two-factor code or a recovery code in a ticket or chat.

Frequently asked questions

I am unable to login to my Domain India account. What should I do?

Go to domainindia.com/client/login and check you are using your account email. If you forgot the password, click Forgot password? and use the link within one hour. If it says too many attempts, wait up to 15 minutes; a reset does not lift the lock.

Is my client area password the same as my cPanel or email password?

No. The client area, the control panel, each mailbox, WordPress and each FTP account all have separate passwords. Changing one does not change the others.

How do I get into cPanel if I forgot the cPanel password?

Sign in to the client area, open Hosting, My hosting, and click the cPanel button on your domain's row. It signs you in without the cPanel password. To set a new one, use Reset password on the account's Access tab.

Why does webmail say login failed?

Usually because the username is not the full email address, or the password was pasted with an extra space. Reset the mailbox password in your control panel, or in the client area for Business Email, then update it on every device.

The login page works on mobile data but not on my office Wi-Fi. Why?

Your office IP address has probably been blocked after repeated failed logins, often from a device with an old saved password. Fix that device, then send your public IP address to support by live chat or a ticket.

I lost my phone and can't get past two-factor authentication. What now?

Open a ticket at domainindia.com/support/ticket from your account email with your name and a domain on the account. Support will tell you what is needed to confirm the account is yours.

I can't log in to my WordPress site. Can Domain India reset it?

First use Lost your password? on the WordPress login page. If the reset email doesn't arrive or a security plugin has locked you out, open a ticket with your domain name and support will tell you the options for your site.

Know which login it is now? Start with the client sign-in page, or open Hosting › My hosting to reach your control panel in one click.

Still locked out?

Tell us which login is failing, your domain name and the exact error. Never include a password or a two-factor code.
