A domain registration fee is what you pay a registrar to hold a domain name for a set period, usually one year at a time. The fee depends mainly on the extension (.in, .com and so on), and you pay again every year to renew. This page explains what goes into the price and lists Domain India's current fees for the most popular extensions.

Key takeaways

At Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST, a .in costs ₹575 for the first year and ₹625 a year to renew, a .co.in ₹475 and then ₹525, and a .com ₹1,150 a year. You can register for 1 to 10 years. Always compare the renewal price, because that is what you pay every year after the first. Domain fees are not refundable.

This is a short answer about fees. For choosing a name and extension, registering step by step, and protecting and renewing your domain, read the ultimate guide to domain name registration.

1. Domain India's registration and renewal fees

These are Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, for one year, excluding 18% GST:

ExtensionRegister (first year)Renew (per year)
.in₹575₹625
.co.in₹475₹525
.net.in, .org.in₹475₹525
.com₹1,150₹1,150
.org₹1,108₹1,108
.net₹1,438₹1,769
.app₹1,850₹2,028
.io₹5,651₹6,005

Every extension we sell, with its register, renew and transfer price, is on the domain pricing page. GST at 18% is added at checkout, and you receive a GST invoice.

2. What decides the fee

The extension
Each registry sets its own wholesale price, so a .in, a .com and a .io cost very different amounts.
First year vs renewal
Some extensions renew at a higher price than the first year. The renewal price is the one you live with.
The registration period
You can register for 1 to 10 years. You pay for every year up front; the checkout shows the total.
Extras
WHOIS privacy on some extensions, and any hosting or email you add, are billed separately from the domain itself.

WHOIS privacy

For .in and its second-level extensions (.co.in, .net.in, .org.in and others), personal registrant details are not shown in public WHOIS. This is free and automatic; there is nothing to switch on. On .com, .net, .org and most other global extensions, privacy is an optional add-on at ₹300 a year per domain. See WHOIS privacy explained.

3. Renewal and late fees

Domain India never charges a saved card automatically. A renewal invoice is emailed up to 30 days before the due date, and the domain renews when that invoice is paid. See how auto-renewal works.

If you let a domain expire and then want it back, it gets expensive. A .in restored from day 37 after expiry costs ₹4,000, which includes the renewal; a .com restoration is ₹8,000, including one year. The simplest way to avoid this is to pay the renewal invoice when it arrives. Read why the redemption fee is so high.

Domain fees are not refundable

Domain registration and renewal fees are not refunded once the domain is registered or renewed, because the registry records the name for the full term and charges for it straight away. Check the spelling of the name before you pay. Details are in are fees for domains refundable and on our refund policy.

4. Transfer fees

Moving a domain to Domain India from another registrar has its own price per extension, shown on the pricing page. See can I transfer an existing domain to Domain India for the steps.
