How to Configure Email on Android

ℹ️ This guide is for the email included with your hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk or Webuzo). It does not apply to Business Email, which runs on a separate platform and has its own webmail at mail.yourdomain.com:8443. Not sure which you have? How to Configure Email on Android

This guide covers setting up your Domain India email account on Android devices using the Gmail app and Samsung Email app -- the two most common email apps on Android.

Before You Begin

You will need:

• Your full email address (e.g., [email protected])
• Your email password
• Mail server: mail.yourdomain.com

Setup Using Gmail App

The Gmail app on Android supports third-party email accounts, not just Gmail addresses.

Step 1: Open Gmail Settings

1. Open the Gmail app.
2. Tap your profile icon (top right) or go to Settings.
3. Tap Add another account.

Step 2: Choose Account Type

1. Select Other from the list (not Google, Yahoo, or Outlook).
2. Enter your full email address and tap Next.

Step 3: Select Protocol

1. Choose Personal (IMAP) -- this is recommended.
2. Tap Next.

Step 4: Enter Password

1. Enter your email password.
2. Tap Next.

Step 5: Incoming Server Settings

1. Username: Your full email address
2. Password: Your email password
3. Server: mail.yourdomain.com
4. Port: 993
5. Security type: SSL/TLS
6. Tap Next.

Step 6: Outgoing Server Settings

1. SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
2. Port: 465
3. Security type: SSL/TLS
4. Require sign-in: Checked
5. Username: Your full email address
6. Password: Your email password
7. Tap Next.

Step 7: Account Options

1. Set your sync frequency (e.g., every 15 minutes).
2. Optionally enable Notify me when email arrives.
3. Tap Next, then enter a display name and tap Next to finish.

Setup Using Samsung Email App

Samsung devices include a dedicated Email app (separate from Gmail).

1. Open the Email app.
2. If it is your first time, the setup wizard starts automatically. Otherwise, go to Settings > Add account.
3. Select Other.
4. Enter your email address and password.
5. Tap Manual Setup.
6. Select IMAP account.
7. Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings:
   • Incoming: mail.yourdomain.com, Port 993, SSL/TLS
   • Outgoing: mail.yourdomain.com, Port 465, SSL/TLS
8. Tap Sign In.
9. Set sync schedule and notifications.
10. Tap Done.

Tip: Samsung Email often auto-detects settings correctly. If it does, simply verify the server names and ports before proceeding.

Recommended Settings Summary

Troubleshooting

"Authentication failed" error:

• Verify your password is correct -- it is case-sensitive
• Ensure the username is your full email address (not just the part before @)
• Reset your email password in the control panel

"Cannot connect to server" error:

• Ensure you are connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
• Verify the server hostname and port numbers
• Try switching from SSL/TLS (port 465) to STARTTLS (port 587) for outgoing

Not receiving notifications:

• Check Android battery optimization settings -- exclude the email app from optimization
• Verify sync frequency is not set to Manual
• On Samsung, go to Settings > Apps > Email > Battery > Unrestricted

Sync issues (missing or delayed emails):

• Check your sync window (e.g., sync last 7 days vs. all time)
• Ensure mailbox is not over quota
• Force close and reopen the email app
