Domain India sells email in two different ways: mailboxes that come with a web hosting plan, and Business Email, a separate mail service billed per mailbox. They run on different servers, sign in at different addresses and are set up differently, so a guide written for one will not work for the other. If you have just bought Business Email, read this first.
Hosting email runs on the same server as your website and is managed in your control panel (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk). Business Email runs on a separate mail platform, is managed in its own admin console, and opens in the browser at https://mail.yourdomain.com:8443/. It costs ₹60 per mailbox per month, starting with one mailbox. Guides for cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk email do not apply to a Business Email mailbox.

Most email articles in our knowledge base are for hosting mailboxes: Roundcube, cPanel email, DirectAdmin email and similar. Follow them with a Business Email mailbox and the steps fail, usually at the login screen. Business Email guides mention mail.yourdomain.com and port 8443. If a guide does not, it is not about your mailbox.
2. How to tell which one you have
- Business Email appears as its own service in your client area, separate from any hosting plan, and its service page shows your webmail access.
- Hosting email is created inside your control panel. If you made the mailbox in cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk, it is hosting email.
Still not sure? Open a ticket with your domain name and support will tell you which platform your mail is on.
3. What Business Email gives you
mail.yourdomain.com. Your mail app settings, MX record and SPF record show your domain, not ours.You can also create app passwords for each device, such as one for your phone and one for Outlook, and revoke any one of them on its own if a device is lost.
4. What Business Email is not
We would rather you know this before you buy:
- It is not an office suite. There are no documents, spreadsheets or video meetings. If you need those, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 is the right product.
- There is no POP3. Business Email works with IMAP only, so mail stays on the server and syncs across all your devices.
- There is no uptime guarantee for this platform.
- The mail servers are in the EU, not in India. If your organisation must keep data in India, raise it with us before you buy.
5. When hosting email is enough
Hosting email is included in your plan, so it costs nothing extra, and it suits many small sites: a contact address or two, low volume, and a website on the same account.
- You need a few mailboxes and already have a hosting plan
- You are happy to manage mail in the same control panel as your site
- You use POP3 in an older mail app
- You want email to run separately from your website and its hosting account
- You send large attachments, up to 100 MB from a mail app
- You want calendar and contact sync on your phone and computer
- Your website is not hosted with Domain India, or you use a website builder
6. Getting started with Business Email

- Sync calendar and contacts.
Your own address, mail.yourdomain.com:8443, works once your domain's records point to us and the certificate for it has been issued. Until then, use the webmail link shown on your Business Email service page in the client area.

7. Where Domain India fits
If you already host with us, your plan's mailboxes may be all you need. If you want email that runs separately from your website, starts at one mailbox and syncs calendar and contacts, add Business Email. The card shows the live price, excluding GST.

Does Business Email include documents or video meetings?
