You can move a domain you already own from another registrar to Domain India and keep the same name, website and email. For most extensions you need three things: a domain that is at least 60 days old, unlocked at your current registrar, and its auth (EPP) code. Unlock the domain at your current registrar and get its auth (EPP) code. Then go to Domain Transfer, enter the domain and the code (at least 6 characters), check the price and pay. One year is added to the domain's existing expiry date. .in domains transfer the same way; a .uk domain has no auth code and moves by a registrar tag change, so start a .uk transfer with a support ticket.

2. Transfer your domain, step by step
- Prepare at your current registrar.Turn off the transfer lock and get the auth code. See how to get your auth code.
- Open the transfer page.Go to Domain Transfer and enter your domain name.
- Enter the auth code.Paste it rather than typing it. The form needs at least 6 characters and will not continue with a shorter code.
- Check eligibility and price.The page shows whether the domain can be transferred and the price, which includes a one-year extension.
- Check out and pay.Sign in to your Domain India account, or create one, and pay the invoice. The transfer starts after payment.
- Watch the registrant email.Your current registrar may send a message asking you to confirm or approve the move.
Anyone with the auth code of an unlocked domain can try to move it. Paste it only into the Domain India transfer form, never into a chat, forum or screenshot.
Most transfers of .com and other generic domains finish within about 5 to 7 days. That is a typical time, not a guarantee; some registrars take longer. Follow progress on the domain under Domains in your client area.
3. .in and .co.in domains
.in domains, including .co.in, .net.in and .org.in, transfer the same way: unlock the domain, get the auth code from your current registrar, and enter both on the transfer page. The .in registry is run by NIXI, and Domain India is a NIXI-accredited .IN registrar.
- Privacy is nothing to switch off. Personal registrant details of .in domains are not shown in public WHOIS; this is free and automatic, and it does not block a transfer.
- Identity verification may be needed. .in domains can require eKYC. It is done only in the client area at
/client/kyc, through DigiLocker; see complete eKYC verification. If the domain stays on hold afterwards, open a ticket. - Expired .in domains usually cannot be moved until they are renewed or restored at the current registrar.
4. .uk domains and other extensions
A .uk domain (also .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk) does not use an auth code, so the transfer page is not the route. It moves when the current registrar changes the domain's registrar tag. 6. After the transfer
- Turn the transfer lock back on from the domain's Transfer tab; see domain lock.
- Check the Contacts and Nameservers tabs, and make sure the nameservers point where your website and email are hosted.
- Know how renewals work. Domain India never charges a saved card automatically: a renewal invoice is emailed up to 30 days before the due date, and the domain renews when you pay it.
