Registering a domain with Domain India takes a few minutes: search for the name, choose how many years, decide whether you want hosting with it, sign in and pay. This guide walks through each screen of today's order flow, shows the current prices of the most popular extensions, and lists what to do once the domain is yours.
Go to domain registration, search for your name, select the extensions you want and click Checkout. Choose 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years, pick Domains Only or With Hosting, sign in or create an account, check the nameservers and click Continue to Payment. A .in costs ₹575 for the first year and a .com ₹1,150, excluding 18% GST. WHOIS privacy on .in is free and automatic.
This page covers the order itself. For how to pick a good name, which extension suits you and how to protect a domain afterwards, read The ultimate guide to domain name registration.
1. Prices of popular extensions

Bharat domains in Indian scripts, such as .भारत, cost ₹599 a year: see Bharat domains. Every other extension, with its renewal price, is on the domain pricing page. Some extensions renew at a higher price than the first year, so always compare the renewal column.
2. Search for your domain
- Open domain registrationand type the name you want, with or without an extension, for example
sharmatraders. - Read the results. Each extension shows whether it is available and its price. Suggestions for similar available names appear too.

- Click Checkout.

3. Choose the period and whether you need hosting
Choose Registration Period. Pick 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years for each domain, or apply one period to all of them. A longer period means fewer renewals to remember, and the order page shows any saving for multi-year periods.
Complete Your Setup. Choose one of two routes:
- Domains Only: register the domain now and add a website later, or point it at a website you already have elsewhere.
- With Hosting: pick a hosting plan and billing cycle, and the domain and hosting go into one order. The hosting account is created for the domain you selected.
4. Sign in, check nameservers and pay
- Sign in or create an account.Use an email address you check often and will keep for years: renewal invoices and registry notices go there. You can also continue with Google.
- Review the order. The review page lists each domain, its period and the total. For .in domains it confirms that WHOIS privacy is included free.
- Check the nameservers.Keep Use Default Nameservers if you have no website yet. If you already have hosting, choose Use Custom Nameservers and enter the ones shown on that hosting service's page. You can change them at any time later.
- Click Continue to Payment. If your profile is missing contact details, you are asked to complete them first: name, phone, address, city, state, postcode and country, plus your company and GSTIN if you have them. These become the domain's registrant details, so make them accurate.
- Pay.Pay online with the methods offered on the payment page, such as UPI, credit or debit card, or net banking. You receive a GST invoice.
Already logged in? You can also start from the client area: open Order New (/client/order), choose Get a Domain, then Register new, and type the domain.
The person or company in the contact details is the legal owner of the domain. If a web designer registers a domain for you, make sure your name and your email address are used, not theirs. Changing the owner later is much harder than getting it right now.
5. WHOIS privacy: what you get
For .in and its second-level extensions (.co.in, .net.in, .org.in and others), personal registrant details are not shown in public WHOIS. This is free and automatic; there is nothing to switch on. The organisation name, state and country can still appear.
For .com, .net, .org and other generic extensions, privacy protection is an optional add-on at ₹300 a year plus GST, which you can add from the domain's page after registration. See How to enable or disable privacy protection.
6. After you pay
- Find the domain under Domains › My domains in the client area. From there you manage nameservers, contacts, the transfer lock and renewals.
- Verify your identity for .in. Every .in domain needs a verified registrant. Complete eKYC once for your account at Identity verification; see How to complete eKYC verification. If a domain stays on hold afterwards, open a ticket.
- Point it at your website. If you host with us, use the nameservers or server IP shown on your hosting service; see How do I change my nameservers.
- Keep it renewed. Domain India never charges your card automatically. Before the expiry date we email a renewal invoice, and the domain renews when you pay it. See How auto-renewal works.
If the domain does not appear as active in your client area after payment, or the registration shows an error, open a support ticket with the domain name. Domain registrations are not refundable once the domain is registered, so check the spelling before you pay; see How to cancel a domain name order.
