A domain is registered for a fixed period, and it keeps working only if you renew it before that period ends. At Domain India you renew by paying a renewal invoice or by clicking Renew on the domain's page; nothing is ever charged to your card automatically. This page covers how to renew, how early you can do it, and what happens if a domain expires.

Domain India never charges a saved card. A renewal invoice is emailed up to 30 days before the domain's expiry date, and the domain renews when you pay it. You can also renew at any time from the domain's page in the client area and choose how many years to add; the new years are added to your current expiry date. A .in domain can be renewed at the normal price up to day 36 after expiry; from day 37 it can only be restored, for ₹4,000 including the renewal.
1. How domain renewal works at Domain India
There is no automatic payment. "Auto-renewal" here means a renewal invoice:
- Before the domain is due, a renewal invoice is generated, currently up to 30 days ahead, and emailed to the address on your account. Reminders follow in the weeks before expiry.
- The domain renews only when that invoice is paid.
- The Domain renewal switch on the domain's page controls whether that invoice is sent. Turning it off does not cancel the domain; it simply runs to its expiry date.
If the renewal emails go to an old address or to spam, the domain simply expires. Keep the email on your account current.
2. Renew a domain from the client area
You don't have to wait for the invoice.
- Sign inand open your domains (Services › Domains).
- Click the domainyou want to renew.
- Click Renew.A panel opens showing the current expiry date.
- Select the renewal period.Choose how many years to add. Renewing for several years at once means one missed email can't take your website and email offline.
- Click Proceed to paymentand pay with UPI, card, net banking or any other method offered at checkout.
If a renewal invoice is already waiting, you can pay it from your invoices instead. Once payment is recorded, the expiry date moves forward.
The years you pay for are added to the domain's existing expiry date, so renewing months ahead loses no time.
3. Renewal prices
Renewal is charged per year at the rate for the extension. Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST:

A promotional first-year registration price applies to the first term only; your invoice always shows the current renewal rate. Other extensions are on the domain pricing page.
4. What happens after the expiry date
When a domain expires, it stops resolving: your website goes offline and email to the domain stops arriving. How long you have to fix it, and what it costs, depends on the extension.

The grace period for .com and other generic extensions varies, so ask support for your domain's exact date instead of relying on a general figure. If a domain is not restored in time, the registry deletes it and anyone can register it.
Renewing on time costs a few hundred rupees. Restoring the same domain later costs ₹4,000 or more, and after that it may be gone for good.
5. If you don't want to renew
You can decline a renewal before paying, with no penalty. Open the Renewals page in the client area and choose Don't renew, switch off renewal invoices on the domain's page, or simply leave the invoice unpaid. The domain keeps working until its expiry date.
Domain registrations and renewals are non-refundable once processed at the registry, so decline before you pay rather than asking for a refund afterwards.
6. Renewing and transferring
Moving a domain to Domain India from another registrar includes a one-year renewal, which is added to the existing expiry date.
