Your first login to WHM (Web Host Manager) is where you start running your Domain India cPanel reseller account: WHM is the panel in which you create hosting packages and cPanel accounts for your own clients. The quickest way in is the WHM button in the client area. This page covers that first login and a short tour of what to do next.

Key takeaways

In the client area, open Hosting › Reseller hosting and click WHM on your reseller account; WHM opens signed in, in a new tab. To go in directly, open https://server-hostname:2087 and sign in with your reseller username (not your email address) and password, both shown on the account's Manage › Access tab. Then create a hosting package, create a test client account, and set up your branding.

The full guides

Every login route, the password reset and the fixes for a WHM that won't open are in logging into WHM. The menus are explained in WHM dashboard overview.

1. Log in for the first time

  1. Sign in to the client area
and open your hosting, then Reseller hosting.
  2. Click WHM
on your reseller account. The button appears only while the account is Active. If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for domainindia.com.
  3. Or sign in directly.
Open the account, click Manage, then the Access tab to see your username, server IP and panel address. Go to https://server-hostname:2087 and sign in with the reseller username and password.
  4. Forgotten the password?
Use Reset password on the same Access tab. Your client-area password and your WHM password are separate.

Use the server hostname, not the IP address, so the browser shows a valid certificate. WHM is only on cPanel reseller plans: DirectAdmin resellers work in DirectAdmin, and shared hosting accounts use cPanel.

2. A quick tour of WHM

The left sidebar lists every function you have, grouped into categories, with a search box at the top: type "account", "package" or "zone" to jump straight there. As a reseller you see only the functions your reseller privileges allow. Server-wide settings, PHP versions, installed software, backups and the firewall are managed by Domain India.

MenuWhat you use it for
Account Information › List AccountsSee every client account, its package and disk use, and open a client's cPanel
Account FunctionsCreate, suspend, upgrade or terminate client accounts, and reset a client's password
PackagesAdd and edit the hosting plans you sell
DNS FunctionsEdit DNS zones and MX records for your clients' domains
Development › Manage API TokensConnect billing software such as WHMCS or Blesta

3. Your first three tasks

Create a package
Set disk, bandwidth, email accounts and databases for a plan you sell. See creating hosting packages in WHM.
Create a test account
Make a client account on that package and log in to its cPanel to see what your clients see.
Set up your brand
Add private nameservers and your branding so clients see your name, not ours.

Guides for each: creating hosting packages, creating client accounts, private nameservers for resellers and white-label branding. Each client gets their own cPanel login; never give a client your WHM password.

Terminating an account deletes its data

Terminate deletes the account's files, databases and email. Suspending keeps them. Double-check the account before you click.

Backups are handled for you: JetBackup takes weekly backups of every account on Sundays and keeps five copies, and clients restore from JetBackup in their own cPanel. Turn on two-factor authentication for your client area, because it opens WHM with one click.

Frequently asked questions

How do I log in to WHM for the first time?

Sign in to the Domain India client area, open Hosting, Reseller hosting, and click the WHM button on your account. Or go to https://server-hostname:2087 and sign in with the reseller username and password on the account's Manage, Access tab.

What is my WHM username?

Your reseller username, not your email address. It is on the Access tab of your reseller account in the client area, and in your welcome email.

Why don't I see server settings or Service Status in WHM?

Those are server-owner functions. On shared reseller hosting, WHM shows only the functions your reseller privileges allow; Domain India manages the server itself.

What should I do first after logging in?

Create a hosting package, create a test client account on it, and set up private nameservers and branding before you sell to clients.

Do DirectAdmin reseller plans use WHM?

No. WHM is only on cPanel reseller plans. DirectAdmin resellers manage their clients inside DirectAdmin at reseller level.

Ready to set up your first client? Open your hosting and click WHM, read logging into WHM if it won't open, or compare reseller hosting plans if you are still choosing. Reseller support is the same 24/7 live chat and tickets everyone gets, with a first ticket response within 15 minutes.
