Blesta is a billing, client-management and support platform for hosting businesses. Connected to your Domain India cPanel reseller account, it can create, suspend and terminate your customers' hosting accounts automatically when they pay or stop paying. This guide covers where to install Blesta, how to connect it to WHM, and the settings to get right before your first customer orders.
Install Blesta on a server you control, such as a VPS, because it needs the ionCube Loader, which is not generally available on our shared cPanel servers. Create an API token in your reseller WHM, add a cPanel server in Blesta with your WHM user name and that token, then create Blesta packages that match your WHM packages. Set up taxes, a payment gateway, email and the cron job, and place a test order before you go live.
1. What Blesta does for a reseller
Your reseller account gives you WHM, where you create packages and cPanel accounts by hand. Blesta automates the business side around it:
- Order forms where customers choose a plan and pay.
- Automatic provisioning: a paid order creates the cPanel account in your WHM with the right package.
- Invoices and reminders, and automatic suspension and unsuspension when invoices go unpaid or are paid.
- A client area where your customers see their services and invoices, and a support desk for their tickets.
Domain India bills you for the reseller plan; you bill your own customers at your own prices. Blesta handles the second relationship.
2. Before you start
- A Blesta licence.Blesta is commercial software, sold by Blesta itself. Check blesta.com for the current licence types and prices, and for its trial.
- A server that meets Blesta's requirements.A supported PHP 8 version, MySQL or MariaDB, the ionCube Loader, and PHP extensions such as cURL, OpenSSL, PDO and GMP. The exact list for your Blesta version is in Blesta's documentation.
- Your reseller WHM login.Open your reseller service under My Hosting and click Manage; the Access tab shows your user name, the server IP and the panel URL.
- A domain or subdomain for billing, such as billing.yourbrand.com, with an SSL certificate.
- Your WHM packages, created first, so Blesta has something to link to.
3. Where to install Blesta
Parts of Blesta are encoded with ionCube, so PHP must have the ionCube Loader. On our cPanel shared servers it is not available for current PHP versions (checked on 23 September 2026), so Blesta cannot run on a reseller or shared hosting account as a rule. If you want to try anyway, ask support before you buy a licence.
The dependable home for Blesta is a VPS. It also keeps your billing system separate from the hosting server it manages, which is good practice: if you ever move hosting servers, your billing and client records are not affected.
On a Domain India VPS you have full root access and install the software yourself: a web server, PHP with the ionCube Loader, MySQL or MariaDB, and an SSL certificate. The VPS is self-managed, so updates, security and backups of the billing server are your responsibility.
4. Install Blesta
- Create a database and user.Give the user all privileges on that database only.
- Upload the files.Download Blesta from your blesta.com account and upload it to the document root of your billing domain, with SFTP or
scp. - Run the installer.Open your billing domain in a browser and follow the installer. Enter the database details and your licence key, and create the first staff account.
- Add the cron job.Blesta relies on a cron job for invoices, reminders, suspensions and provisioning retries. Its documentation gives the exact line; it typically runs every five minutes.
- Protect the admin area.Use a strong password and two-factor authentication for every staff account, and keep Blesta updated.
The cron entry usually looks like this; copy the exact path shown in your Blesta installation:
*/5 * * * * /usr/bin/php /var/www/blesta/index.php cron > /dev/null 2>&15. Connect Blesta to your reseller WHM
Create an API token in WHM. Log in to your reseller WHM, open Development › Manage API Tokens, generate a token named, for example, "Blesta", and copy it at once, because it is shown only once. If you cannot see the token page in your WHM, ask support.
Add the server in Blesta. In the Blesta admin area, install the cPanel module from the available modules under your company settings, then add a server:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Server label | Any name, such as "Domain India reseller" |
| Hostname | The server hostname or IP from the Access tab in your client area |
| User name | Your WHM reseller user name |
| Key or API token | The token you just created in WHM |
| Use SSL | On. WHM answers securely on port 2087 |
| Account limit | The number of accounts your reseller plan allows |
| Name servers | The nameservers your customers should use |
Save the server. If Blesta cannot connect, check the hostname, user name and token first.
Anyone with your WHM token can create, change and delete your customers' accounts. Store it only in Blesta, never in email or chat, and revoke it in WHM straight away if it leaks.
6. Create packages and order forms
- Packages: create one Blesta package for each WHM package, choose the cPanel module and your server, and select the matching WHM package name. Set your prices and billing periods.
- Package groups: group related packages, such as "Shared hosting", so they appear together on order forms.
- Order forms: install Blesta's order system if it is not already active, create an order form, and add your package groups.
- Test: place an order with a test client, pay it with a test or manual payment, and check that the account appears in WHM with the right package.
Domain registration in Blesta needs a registrar module and your own account with a wholesale domain registrar. If you want to resell domains through Domain India, ask support what is available for your account.
7. Taxes, payments and email
- GST: set up tax rules in Blesta so invoices show GST correctly for your customers. Blesta supports two tax levels, which can represent CGST and SGST. Confirm the exact setup with your accountant.
- Payment gateway: enable a gateway your customers can use. For Indian payments such as UPI, check whether your payment provider offers a Blesta module.
- Branding: add your company details and logo, and edit the invoice layout and email templates so every message carries your brand.
- Email delivery: set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for the domain Blesta sends from, or invoices and password-reset emails land in spam.
8. Run the business day to day
- Check Blesta's dashboard and failed-provisioning notices daily in the first weeks.
- Keep your WHM packages and Blesta packages in step: change both together.
- Update Blesta and its modules regularly, and back up its database and files.
- Handle your own customers' support in Blesta. For server-level problems with your reseller account, open a ticket with us at support.
9. Where Domain India fits
Domain India reseller hosting gives you WHM, private nameservers under your own brand and white-label branding, so your customers see only your business. See reseller hosting for the current plans and prices. For the Blesta server itself, a VPS is the right fit; the card shows the live price, excluding 18% GST.

Frequently asked questions
Can I install Blesta on my Domain India reseller hosting account?
As a rule, no. Blesta needs the ionCube Loader, which is not available for current PHP versions on Domain India's cPanel shared servers. Install Blesta on a VPS instead, and ask support before buying a licence if you want to check your account.
How does Blesta connect to my reseller WHM?
Through Blesta's cPanel module. Create an API token in WHM under Development, Manage API Tokens, then add a server in Blesta with your server hostname, WHM user name and that token, with SSL switched on.
Is Blesta free?
No. Blesta is commercial software with paid licences, and it offers a trial. Check blesta.com for current licence types and prices.
Does Blesta create cPanel accounts automatically?
Yes, when a package is linked to the cPanel module and a WHM package. A paid order creates the account in your WHM, and Blesta can suspend and unsuspend it according to your invoice settings.
Can Blesta send GST invoices?
Blesta supports tax rules with two levels, which can represent CGST and SGST. Set up your tax rules and company GST details in Blesta, and confirm the exact setup with your accountant.
Who supports my customers?
