A failed payment on a Domain India invoice usually has a simple cause: a declined card, a UPI request that wasn't approved in time, or a bank page that timed out. The first thing to check is whether money actually left your account, because that decides what you do next.
If money was debited but the invoice still shows Payment Due, see what to do if your payment isn't showing. For each payment method step by step, see how to pay via UPI, net banking or card.
Check your bank or UPI app. If you were not debited, nothing was charged: open the invoice, click Pay Now and try again, or choose another option such as Atom Pay, Stripe or PayPal instead of Razorpay. If you were debited, don't pay again: most payments are confirmed within a couple of minutes, and if the invoice still shows Payment Due after about an hour, open a ticket with the invoice number and the transaction reference.
1. Common reasons a payment fails
| What happened | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Card declined | Wrong details, online use switched off, or a limit reached | Check the card details and your bank app's online-use setting, or pay by UPI or net banking |
| OTP not received | Bank delay, or an old mobile number with the bank | Wait a minute and use Resend; check the number your bank has |
| UPI request expired | The request wasn't approved in the app in time | Click Pay again and approve promptly, or scan the QR code |
| Checkout closed before paying | The window was closed or the browser blocked it | Nothing was charged; click Pay again |
| Net banking page won't load | The bank's site is busy or down | Wait a few minutes, or use UPI or a card |
2. Try again safely
- Confirm you weren't debited.Look in your bank or UPI app for a debit matching the invoice amount.
- Open the invoicefrom Invoices and click Pay Now.
- Pick an option.The payment page offers Razorpay, Atom Pay, Stripe, PayPal and Bank Transfer. If one gateway keeps failing for your bank or card, try another.
- Stay on the pageuntil the checkout confirms the payment and you are returned to the invoice.
Don't pay again and don't raise a dispute with your bank yet. Either the payment will be matched to your invoice, or your bank or the gateway will reverse the debit; the timing of a reversal depends on your bank. Send support the transaction reference so we can check which it is.
3. What to send support
Open a ticket from the client area, or use the public ticket form if you can't sign in, with:
- the invoice number;
- the payment method you used;
- the transaction reference (UPI reference or UTR, card transaction ID or the gateway's payment ID);
- the date, time and amount of the debit.
Never send your card number, CVV, OTP or banking password; support never needs them.
My payment failed. Was I charged?
Check your bank or UPI app. If there is no debit, nothing was charged and you can try again. If there is a debit, don't pay again; wait for the invoice to update, and open a ticket with the transaction reference if it still shows Payment Due after about an hour.
Why was my card declined?
Usually because of a typing mistake in the card details, online use being switched off for the card, or a limit being reached. Check these in your bank's app, or pay by UPI or net banking instead.
Can I use a different payment method?
Yes. Open the invoice and click Pay Now: the payment page offers Razorpay, Atom Pay, Stripe, PayPal and Bank Transfer. If one gateway fails for your bank or card, choose another.
Money was deducted but the payment failed. Will I get it back?
Either the payment is matched to your invoice, or your bank or the payment gateway reverses the debit. Your bank can tell you the expected reversal date. Send support the transaction reference so we can confirm which applies.
Ready to try again? Open your invoices, or open a support ticket with your transaction reference if you were debited. Live chat is available 24/7, and there is no phone support.
Send the invoice number, payment method and transaction reference, and support will check the payment for you.
