Nameservers decide which DNS provider answers for your domain, and so where your website and email are found. You change them at the registrar where the domain is registered: for a Domain India domain, that is the Nameservers tab in the client area. This page shows where to find the right values and how to change them, whether your domain is registered with us or somewhere else.
Get the nameservers from your hosting welcome email or your hosting service's page in the client area. If the domain is registered with Domain India, open Domains → My domains, select the domain, open the Nameservers tab, click Edit, enter them and click Save. If it is registered elsewhere, change them in that registrar's control panel. The change usually spreads within a few hours and can take up to 24-48 hours.

1. Find the nameservers to use
Use only the values given for your account. Nameserver hostnames differ from server to server, and old lists copied from articles or forum posts can be out of date. A wrong or retired nameserver can take your website and email offline.
If you are unsure which nameservers belong to your hosting, open a support ticket before you change anything.
2. Domain registered with Domain India
- Sign into the client area.
- Open Domains → My domainsand select the domain.
- Open the Nameservers taband click Edit.
- Enter the new nameservers,one per field, exactly as given. Use Add nameserver for a third or fourth. At least one is required; enter every nameserver your provider gave you, which is usually two or more.
- Click Save.The client area confirms "Nameservers updated".
The transfer lock does not block nameserver changes, so there is no need to unlock the domain.
3. Domain registered somewhere else
Sign in to the control panel of the company where you bought the domain and look for a "Nameservers" or "DNS" setting on the domain. Enter the nameservers from your Domain India hosting service page or welcome email, exactly as shown there. Not sure where the domain is registered? A WHOIS lookup shows the registrar's name. If the new provider does not have your MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, email stops arriving. Copy them across before you switch. If you only want to point the website to Domain India hosting, use Option 2 on the hosting card instead: keep your current DNS and add two A records, @ and www, pointing to the server IP shown there.
4. How long it takes
A nameserver change usually takes effect within a few hours and can take up to 24-48 hours to reach every network. There is no guaranteed time. During that window some visitors reach the old provider and others the new one, so keep the old hosting and email running until the change has settled.
