Yes, you can show advertisements and earn money from a website hosted with Domain India. Our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy do not ban advertising, affiliate links or selling. They ban deceptive advertising and certain kinds of content, whether or not ads are involved. This guide explains exactly where the lines are, then walks through the practical ways to earn from your own website.

Key takeaways

Commercial ads are allowed on Domain India hosting, as long as the ads and the site stay within our Acceptable Use Policy: no deceptive advertising, no gambling or betting, no unlicensed pharmaceuticals, no investment scams, no spam. The common ways to earn are display ads (such as Google AdSense), affiliate links, sponsored posts, selling ad space directly, and selling your own products or courses. Label paid content clearly and keep ad scripts light so your site stays fast.

1. What our policies say about advertising

We checked the live Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy (both current in September 2026). Neither prohibits advertising or monetisation as such. The relevant rules are these:

  • Deceptive advertising is prohibited. The AUP lists "Deceptive advertising or misleading practices" and the Terms list "Deceptive advertising or fraud".
  • Prohibited content applies to ads too. If an ad, a banner or an affiliate link promotes something the AUP bans, your site is promoting it.
  • Spam is prohibited: "Sending bulk unsolicited emails (spam)". Email marketing must be to people who agreed to receive it.
  • Resource abuse is prohibited, including "resource-intensive background processes that affect other users" on shared hosting.
Categories you cannot promote, even through ads

The AUP prohibits, among others: online gambling, betting and casino sites (including fantasy sports with real-money wagering, lottery, satta and matka); unlicensed pharmaceutical sales; investment scams, Ponzi schemes and unauthorised forex or binary options platforms; fake cryptocurrency exchanges; and adult content (except on a dedicated server with prior written approval). Read the full list on the Acceptable Use Policy page before you accept an advertiser.

According to the AUP, a first violation gets a warning and a request to fix it within 24 hours; repeated or severe violations can lead to suspension or termination. If you are unsure whether an advertiser or affiliate programme is allowed, ask us through a support ticket before you publish.

2. Display advertising (Google AdSense and ad networks)

Display ads are the simplest start: you add a code snippet, the network fills the space, and you are paid by views or clicks.

  1. Publish useful, original content first.
Networks review your site, and thin or copied content is usually rejected.
  2. Add the essential pages:
About, Contact and a Privacy Policy that explains your use of cookies and third-party ads. AdSense requires the privacy disclosure.
  3. Apply to the network
and add its verification code to your site's header. On WordPress, a header-code plugin or your theme settings do this.
  4. Upload an ads.txt file
to your site's root folder (public_html) with the line the network gives you. It tells advertisers which networks may sell your space.
  5. Place ads sparingly.
A few well-placed units earn more over time than a page crowded with ads that slow it down and drive visitors away.

Never click your own ads or ask others to. Ad networks detect invalid clicks and close accounts for it.

3. Affiliate marketing

You recommend a product with a tracked link and earn a commission when someone buys. Amazon Associates and many Indian brands, courses and software companies run affiliate programmes.

  • Pick programmes that match what your readers already come to you for.
  • Disclose it. Say clearly near the link that you earn a commission. The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) expects material connections with brands to be disclosed.
  • Mark paid or affiliate links with rel="sponsored" so search engines do not treat them as editorial links.

Domain India's own affiliate programme

If your audience builds websites, you can also refer them to us. The live affiliate programme page listed these terms in September 2026:

ProductCommission
Shared and reseller hostingUp to 15%
VPS and cloud servers10%
SSL certificates10%
Dedicated servers5%
Domain registration and transfer2%

Commission is paid on the referred customer's first purchase only, is held for 60 days to cover the refund window, and is paid monthly by NEFT or UPI once you reach ₹5,000. Self-referrals, bidding on our brand name in paid search, and spam are not allowed. Rates can change, so check the page for the current terms.

4. Sponsored posts and direct ad sales

Once you have steady traffic in a niche, companies may pay you directly.

  • Sponsored posts: a brand pays you to publish an article or review. Label it "Sponsored" at the top, and use rel="sponsored" on its links.
  • Selling ad space directly: create an "Advertise with us" page with your monthly visitors, audience and ad sizes. You set the price and choose the advertisers, and you keep the whole payment instead of sharing it with a network.

Check every direct advertiser against the AUP list above yourself: in a direct deal, no ad network screens them for you.

5. Selling your own products, services and courses

Selling your own offer often earns more than ads, because you keep the margin.

Digital products
E-books, templates, design assets or software, sold with a payment gateway and an automatic download.
Courses and memberships
Paid lessons or members-only content, with a one-time fee or a monthly subscription.
Services and bookings
Consulting, classes or local services, with an enquiry form or online booking.

On WordPress, e-commerce, membership and learning plugins handle the checkout. Indian payment gateways support UPI, cards and net banking. Ask your accountant whether GST registration applies to your sales.

6. Keep your monetised site fast and within limits

Ad and tracking scripts are among the heaviest things on a typical page. On shared hosting, a slow or overloaded site loses visitors and income.

  • Limit the number of ad units and third-party scripts per page, and lazy-load ads below the fold.
  • Use a caching plugin. Our shared hosting runs Apache, so use WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache.
  • Watch your account's CPU and memory use; see Check your hosting resource usage and My website is slow.
  • Newsletters have sending limits on shared hosting: 200 messages per hour per account on cPanel and 1,000 per day on DirectAdmin. Large mailing lists belong with a dedicated email marketing service.

7. Where Domain India fits

Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST:

  • A WordPress or content site with ads and affiliate links: shared hosting. DirectAdmin Starter is ₹100 a month and cPanel Starter ₹125 a month, with free SSL and Softaculous for one-click WordPress installs. See cPanel hosting or DirectAdmin hosting.
  • A small shop without technical work: the AI Website Builder. The Pro plan (₹599 a month) adds an online cart with WhatsApp and UPI orders.
  • Your own domain: a .in or .com gives advertisers and customers more confidence than a free subdomain. Search for a domain.
Does Domain India allow advertisements on hosted websites?

Yes. Domain India's Terms and Acceptable Use Policy do not prohibit advertising or monetisation. They prohibit deceptive advertising and certain categories of content, such as gambling, betting, unlicensed pharmaceuticals, investment scams and spam, whether they appear in ads or anywhere else on the site.

Can I run Google AdSense on Domain India shared hosting?

Yes. Add the AdSense code to your site, upload the ads.txt file to your site's root folder and keep a privacy policy that explains the use of cookies and third-party ads. Your content and ads must also follow Domain India's Acceptable Use Policy.

Can I promote betting or fantasy sports apps on my website?

No. Domain India's Acceptable Use Policy prohibits online gambling, betting and casino sites, including fantasy sports with real-money wagering, lottery, satta and matka. Promoting them through ads or affiliate links puts your site in breach of the policy.

Do I need to disclose affiliate links and sponsored posts?

Yes. Tell readers clearly when you earn a commission or were paid for content, as the Advertising Standards Council of India expects, and mark paid links with rel="sponsored" for search engines.

Does Domain India have an affiliate programme?

Yes. The affiliate programme page listed commissions of up to 15% on shared and reseller hosting in September 2026, paid on a referred customer's first purchase, held for 60 days, and paid monthly by NEFT or UPI above ₹5,000. Check the live page for current rates.

Can I send marketing emails from my hosting account?

Only to people who agreed to receive them, because the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits spam. Shared hosting also has sending limits: 200 messages per hour per account on cPanel and 1,000 per day on DirectAdmin, so large lists need an email marketing service.
