Managing a Domain India VPS happens in two places: inside the server, where you have full root access over SSH or through the control panel you chose at checkout, and outside it, where support handles anything that needs the host, such as a power cycle when the server won't answer or an operating system reinstall. This short guide shows which tasks sit where.
Ordering, first login and securing a new server are covered step by step in how to order and set up your Domain India VPS. Control panel choices are compared in choosing the best control panel for your VPS.
A Domain India VPS is self-managed: you run it as root over SSH, or through the optional panel you picked (none, CyberPanel, Webuzo or DirectAdmin; cPanel isn't offered on a VPS). You can reboot, update and configure the server yourself from inside it. For anything that needs the host, such as a forced restart, an OS reinstall, console access, a resize or a snapshot restore, open a ticket and support will do it.
1. What you manage, and what support does
Older versions of this guide described a Virtualizor panel with power buttons, OS templates and backups. Today you manage the server itself, and you ask support for anything outside it.
| Task | Where you do it |
|---|---|
| Reboot, shut down services, check load and disk | Inside the server (SSH or your panel) |
| Install software, updates, firewall, SSL | Inside the server (SSH or your panel) |
| Add websites, databases and email accounts | Your panel (CyberPanel, Webuzo or DirectAdmin), or by hand without one |
| Restart a VPS that no longer answers over SSH | Open a ticket and support will do it |
| Reinstall the operating system | Open a ticket and support will do it |
| Console access if you are locked out | Open a ticket and support will do it |
| Move to a larger plan | Ask support |
| Snapshots and restores | Ask support what your plan includes and how to restore |
2. Managing the server from inside
Log in over SSH with the IP address and login details from your setup email:
ssh [email protected]Replace the example address with your server's IP, and switch to key login as soon as you can. Everyday commands for a Linux VPS:
sudo reboot # restart the server cleanly
uptime # load average and time since boot
free -h # memory in use
df -h # disk space per filesystem
systemctl status nginx # is a service running?
sudo systemctl restart nginx # restart one service
journalctl -u nginx --since "1 hour ago" # recent log lines for a serviceA clean reboot from inside the server is always better than a forced restart from outside, because it lets databases and services shut down properly.
3. Using a control panel on your VPS
If you chose a panel at checkout, open it in your browser with the address and login in your setup email. The panel runs inside your VPS, so it manages websites, databases, email and SSL on that server. It can't restart or reinstall the VPS itself.
- No panel: the lightest option. You install and configure everything over SSH.
- CyberPanel, Webuzo or DirectAdmin: a web interface for sites, email and databases. Panel licences, where they cost money, are added to the VPS's monthly price, as shown on the VPS page.
cPanel isn't offered on a Domain India VPS. If you want cPanel, use our shared cPanel hosting.
4. When to open a ticket
Open a ticket at /client/support/new (or /support/ticket) or use the 24/7 live chat when:
- the server doesn't answer over SSH or the web, and a reboot from inside isn't possible;
- you need the operating system reinstalled (this erases the disk, so take your own copy of your data first);
- you've locked yourself out, for example with a firewall rule or an SSH setting;
- you want a larger plan, or you want to know about snapshots and restoring from one.
Include your VPS's IP address and what you have already tried. The service and its invoices are listed under your services.
Reinstalling the operating system deletes everything on the VPS disk. Copy your websites, databases and configuration off the server before you ask for one.
5. Keeping the server healthy
Because the VPS is self-managed, routine care is yours: install security updates, keep a firewall that allows only the ports you use, log in with keys rather than passwords, and keep backups of your own data somewhere other than the server. The SSH security hardening checklist and essential security and optimisation tips for your VPS cover this in detail. If you'd rather not look after a server at all, shared hosting or the App Platform may suit you better; see VPS vs shared hosting.
How do I reboot my Domain India VPS?
Log in over SSH and run sudo reboot, which shuts services down cleanly. If the server doesn't answer over SSH, open a support ticket or use the live chat and support will restart it.
Is there a Virtualizor panel for my VPS?
You manage a Domain India VPS from inside the server, over SSH or through the control panel you chose at checkout. Tasks that need the host, such as a forced restart or an OS reinstall, are done by support on request.
Can I reinstall the operating system on my VPS?
Yes. Open a ticket and support will reinstall it. A reinstall erases the disk, so copy your data off the server first.
Which control panels can I use on a Domain India VPS?
You can choose no panel, CyberPanel, Webuzo or DirectAdmin when you order. cPanel is not offered on VPS plans.
Is my VPS managed by Domain India?
No. VPS plans are self-managed by default: you are responsible for updates, security and the software you install. Contact sales if you want managed onboarding.
Ready to set up or grow your server? Follow the VPS setup guide, compare plans on VPS hosting, or open a support ticket for anything that needs the host.
Tell us your VPS's IP address and what you need, such as a restart, a reinstall or console access, and support will take it from there.
