cPanel, DirectAdmin and Webuzo are all Linux control panels, and all three run WordPress, PHP sites and email at your domain well. The real differences at Domain India are price, the tools each panel includes, and a few limits that are set per server. Plesk, the fourth panel we sell, is only for Windows hosting. This page puts those differences side by side so you can pick one in a few minutes.

Key takeaways

Choose cPanel if you want the panel most tutorials show, with both Softaculous and WP Toolkit for WordPress. Choose DirectAdmin for the same essentials at a lower price. Choose Webuzo for simple budget PHP or WordPress hosting. Choose Plesk (Windows) only for ASP.NET and MSSQL. cPanel and DirectAdmin both include weekly JetBackup backups and run on CloudLinux with Imunify360.

New to control panels?

Start with What is cPanel, which explains what each section of a panel does, and Hosting basics for how domains, hosting and panels fit together. This page covers only the comparison.

Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST. Ports are the ones we measured as open on our servers on 20 September 2026.

2. What is the same on all three Linux panels

Whichever Linux panel you choose, you get:

  • Files, email and databases managed from the browser: File Manager, mailboxes at your domain, MySQL databases and phpMyAdmin.
  • Free SSL for domains that point to the account.
  • Apache as the web server, so .htaccess rules and mod_rewrite work. For WordPress caching, use WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache.
  • Jailed SSH on request. Jailed SSH access is available on every shared hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo). It is off by default; ask support to enable it for your account. Login is by SSH key.
  • The same email settings in your mail apps; see email client settings.

3. Where they differ in practice

These are the differences we measured on our own servers, which matter more than generic feature lists.

A few points behind the table:

  • Backups. JetBackup 5 takes weekly account backups on cPanel and DirectAdmin (Sunday, five copies kept), and you can download or restore them yourself. See backup and restore with JetBackup. Domain India sells no separate backup add-on.
  • Webuzo logins. The client area's password reset and one-click login do not work reliably for Webuzo. If you cannot get into Webuzo, contact support.
  • Disabled PHP functions. Both cPanel and DirectAdmin switch off risky functions such as exec and proc_open, so Composer cannot run on shared hosting. The list is in PHP disabled functions on shared hosting.

4. Where Plesk fits

Plesk is the panel on Domain India's Windows hosting, for ASP.NET applications and MSSQL databases. It is not an alternative to the Linux panels for WordPress or PHP. Windows hosting has no SSH (port 22 is closed) and no port 587 for mail. If your developer built the site in .NET, see the Plesk Windows hosting guide; otherwise choose one of the three Linux panels.

5. How to choose

Choose cPanel
You follow online tutorials, want WP Toolkit as well as Softaculous, or may later run a cPanel reseller business with WHM.
Choose DirectAdmin
You want the same essentials as cPanel, with JetBackup and CloudLinux, at a lower monthly price.
Choose Webuzo
You run one simple PHP or WordPress site on a tight budget and are happy to ask support for logins.
Choose Plesk (Windows)
Your application is ASP.NET or needs MSSQL.

You are not locked in forever, but moving between panels means moving the site, so pick the one that fits now. Within the same panel, an active plan can be upgraded at any time: see Can I upgrade my web hosting package at any time?

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, cPanel or DirectAdmin?

Neither is better for every site. At Domain India both run on CloudLinux with Imunify360 and include weekly JetBackup backups. cPanel adds WP Toolkit and is the panel most tutorials show; DirectAdmin starts at a lower price, ₹100 a month against ₹125 for cPanel, excluding 18% GST (list prices on 19 September 2026).

Is Webuzo a good choice for WordPress?

Yes, for a simple site. Webuzo includes Softaculous for installing WordPress, and Domain India backs it up every night. The client area's one-click login only opens the Webuzo login page and its password reset is unreliable, so contact support if you cannot get in.

Do all three panels include SSH?

Jailed SSH access is available on every shared hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo). It is off by default; ask support to enable it for your account. Login is by SSH key. Windows (Plesk) hosting has no SSH.

Which panel should I use for an ASP.NET website?

Plesk on Domain India's Windows hosting. cPanel, DirectAdmin and Webuzo are Linux panels for PHP, WordPress and similar applications.

Can I restore my own backups?

On cPanel and DirectAdmin, yes: JetBackup 5 in the panel keeps weekly backups (five copies) that you can download or restore yourself. On other plans, ask support.

Can I switch from one control panel to another later?

Yes, but it means moving your site and email to a new hosting account, because each panel runs on its own server. Choose the panel that suits your site now, and upgrade within the same panel as you grow.
