No. Domain India's current hosting plans and domains carry no setup fee, and the price you see is the price of the service. What you should plan for are the costs that are real but easy to overlook: 18% GST on every invoice, domain renewal prices that can differ from the first-year price, optional add-ons, and the cost of letting a domain lapse. This guide lists each one so nothing on your invoice is a surprise.
Domain India charges no setup fee on its current hosting plans and domains. Prices on the site exclude GST, and every invoice adds 18% GST. Some domains renew at a different price from their first year (a .in is ₹575 to register and ₹625 to renew), and optional extras such as WHOIS privacy on a .com are charged only if you choose them. Nothing is charged to your card automatically: renewals arrive as invoices you pay yourself.
1. Setup fees: there are none on current plans
Every active hosting plan in the Domain India catalogue has a setup fee of zero, and domain orders carry no setup charge either. You pay for the plan or the domain, plus GST, and that is the full order.
The refund policy still contains the line "Setup fees, if any, are non-refundable". That is standard wording that covers any future or special arrangement. If a setup fee ever applied to something you ordered, it would appear as its own line on the invoice before you pay, so you can always see it.
Every order produces an invoice that lists each item and the GST on it. Nothing is added after payment. If a line on an invoice doesn't make sense to you, ask support before you pay it.
2. GST: 18% on top of the listed price
Prices on the Domain India website are shown excluding GST. Every invoice adds 18% GST, and the invoice total includes it. This applies to customers in India and to customers with a billing address outside India.
A quick way to estimate what you will pay: multiply the listed price by 1.18. A .com listed at ₹1,150 a year, for example, comes to ₹1,357 with GST. The invoice shows the exact figure before you pay.
3. Renewal prices can differ from the first-year price
This is the difference customers most often miss. For some domain extensions, the first-year registration price and the renewal price are not the same.
| Extension | Register (first year) | Renew (per year) |
|---|---|---|
| .in | ₹575 | ₹625 |
| .co.in | ₹475 | ₹525 |
| .com | ₹1,150 | ₹1,150 |
| .net | ₹1,438 | ₹1,769 |
| .org | ₹1,108 | ₹1,108 |
Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST. Every other extension is on the domain pricing page, with its registration and renewal price side by side.
Prices can also change over time. The Domain India terms say prices may be revised to reflect underlying costs, such as exchange rates, vendor licence fees and tax changes. The price on your renewal invoice is the price that applies, and you can decline a renewal before you pay it, without penalty.
4. How renewals are charged (no automatic card payments)
Domain India never charges a saved card automatically. Before a service is due, a renewal invoice is generated, currently up to 30 days ahead, and emailed to you. The service renews only when you pay that invoice.
That means there is no hidden charge on your card, but it also means a renewal you don't pay simply doesn't happen. To stop a service renewing, decline it on the Renewals page in your client area, or leave the invoice unpaid. The full explanation is in How auto-renewal works.
5. Optional extras you pay for only if you choose them
A few extras cost money, and each one is optional:
What doesn't cost extra on shared hosting: a free SSL certificate, and weekly backups. JetBackup runs on cPanel and DirectAdmin and keeps weekly account backups that you can download or restore from your control panel. Domain India doesn't sell a separate backup add-on.
6. The cost of letting a domain lapse
This isn't a hidden fee, but it is the most expensive surprise we see. If a domain expires and isn't renewed in time, getting it back costs far more than renewing it.
- A .in domain can be renewed at the normal price up to day 36 after expiry. From day 37 it can only be restored, for ₹4,000, which includes the renewal.
- A .com that is restored after its grace period costs ₹8,000, which includes one year.
Paying renewal invoices when they arrive avoids both. Why is the redemption fee so high? explains where these charges come from.
7. What is and isn't refundable
Knowing the refund rules in advance is part of knowing the full cost. Under the Domain India refund policy:
- New shared or reseller hosting can be refunded in full within 30 days of purchase.
- Renewals, domains, SSL certificates and add-ons are non-refundable, and so are VPS and dedicated servers once they are set up.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, and are processed in 7 to 10 business days after you ask for one by support ticket.
Domain fees are covered in detail in Are fees for domains refundable?
