2. What NIXI accreditation means
The .IN country-code domain is run by NIXI (the National Internet Exchange of India). Only accredited registrars can register .in domains with the registry directly. For you, that means:
- We are authorised by the registry. Accreditation is what allows a registrar to register and manage .in names with the .IN registry.
- The registry's rules apply to every .in domain. The registrant needs a genuine connection with India, every registrant completes identity verification (eKYC), and disputes over .in names are decided under the .IN Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (INDRP).
- Some names cannot be registered. The registry reserves or prohibits certain names; see reserved and prohibited .IN names.

Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST. You can register for 1 to 10 years at a time. For comparison, a .com is ₹1,150 a year to register or renew.
4. What every .in registration includes
- Free WHOIS privacy. For .in and its second-level extensions (.co.in, .net.in, .org.in and others), personal registrant details are not shown in public WHOIS. This is free and automatic; there is nothing to switch on.
- A free transfer lock, which you turn on or off on the domain's Transfer tab in the client area.
- Identity verification online. Complete eKYC on the Identity verification page with DigiLocker, then confirm the registry's email. Until both are done, a new .in can be held and may not resolve. Step by step: Mandatory KYC for .IN domains.
- One client area for all your domains and services, protected with two-factor authentication if you turn it on.
5. Registering, transferring and renewing
- Register.Search on domain registration, pick the extensions and period, enter registrant details that match your identity document, and pay. The full guide is Registering .in domains.
- Transfer in.Domains held elsewhere can move to us: unlock the domain at your current registrar, get its auth code and enter both on the Domain Transfer page. See Can I transfer an existing domain to Domain India.
- Renew.Domain India never charges a saved card automatically. A renewal invoice is emailed up to 30 days before the due date, and the domain renews when that invoice is paid.
A .in domain can be renewed at the normal price up to day 36 after expiry. From day 37 it can only be restored, for ₹4,000, which includes GST and the renewal.
