You can connect ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant to your Domain India account and build your AI Website Builder website just by chatting: create a site from a short description, change text and design, add photos and a logo, publish it, and connect your own domain. This guide shows how to connect, what you can ask, which permission each action needs, and how you stay in control.
Add the DOMAIN INDIA plugin in ChatGPT, or add https://domainindia.com/mcp as a connector in Claude, then sign in and allow the website permissions you want. You can then ask things like "Create a website for my bakery in Chennai" or "Add a WhatsApp button". In ChatGPT you can build, edit and preview; to publish, use Claude or your client area. Generating photos, logos, translations or a full rewrite uses your plan's AI allowance, and the assistant shows the cost and asks you first.
1. What this is
The AI Website Builder already has its own AI inside the client area. This is something different: you connect an outside AI assistant to your account, so you can build and manage your websites from the assistant you already use.
- You stay in control. Every connection asks for your permission first, one line per permission, and nothing is shared until you click Allow.
- You can disconnect any app at any time, and it stops working at once.
- An app gets only the permissions you allowed, and never anything on anyone else's account.

In Claude Code, the command is:

Older connections can only look at your websites. To build and edit through ChatGPT, disconnect Domain India (in ChatGPT or on Connected apps) and connect again, then allow the website permissions.
The sign-in page for connecting an app is on domainindia.com. If an app sends you anywhere else to type your Domain India password, stop.
3. The website permissions
When you connect, the permission screen lists each permission on its own line. These are the ones for your websites:

6. AI allowance and plan limits
- Looking is free. Listing, viewing details and previewing do not use your plan's AI allowance.
- Creating and editing count against your plan's AI text allowance, the same as editing in the client area.
- Generating a logo set, an AI photo, a new language or a full rewrite of a draft uses your AI allowance. Before it spends anything, the assistant tells you the cost and how much you have left, and asks you to confirm.
- Your allowance is counted over a rolling 30 days. AI logos and AI photos are included in paid plans.
- Without a plan you can build one free preview site. Publishing it, connecting a custom domain and premium AI features need an active plan. If your plan has lapsed, renew it to publish changes.
- Hourly limits apply to AI apps to keep things fast for everyone, for example how many sites you can create or how many edits you can make in an hour. If you hit one, the assistant tells you when you can try again. Your client area is not limited this way.
7. Connecting your own domain
Your site must be published, on a plan that includes a custom domain.
- Domain registered with Domain India and using our DNS: the assistant sets the records for you.
- Domain using other nameservers, or registered elsewhere: the assistant tells you which records to add (an A record for the main domain and www, or a CNAME for other subdomains). A domain that isn't on your account also needs a TXT verification record. You can also switch the domain to our free DNS in the client area.
- Once the records are in place, ask the assistant to verify the domain. The site then gets its free SSL certificate.
The assistant never changes your nameservers or your email records when it connects a domain.
8. What an AI app cannot do
Whatever permissions you allow, an AI app cannot:
- take a payment, place an order, or change or cancel a plan;
- delete a website (it can unpublish one, and the content is kept);
- change your nameservers or domain contacts;
- see your password;
- see or change anything on another customer's account.
9. Is it safe?
- Permission first. An app can do nothing until you have signed in and clicked Allow, and it gets only the permissions listed on that screen.
- Changes are reversible. Text and design edits save a version you can undo, and unpublishing keeps your content.
- Disconnect at any time. Open Account › Connected apps in the client area (/client/security/connected-apps) to see every connected app and remove any of them. Disconnecting stops the app at once.
- Your password is never shared. You sign in on Domain India's own page, and the AI app never sees your password.
If something looks wrong, disconnect the app first, then open a support ticket. Support is by 24/7 live chat and tickets; there is no phone support.
Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT or Claude build my Domain India website?
Yes. Connect the assistant, allow "Create and edit your websites", and describe your business, for example "Create a website for my bakery in Chennai". You can then change text, design, photos and logo by chatting.
Can I publish my website from ChatGPT?
Not yet. In ChatGPT you can build, edit and preview. To publish, use your client area, or Claude and other connector apps with the "Publish, unpublish and connect domains" permission.
Does building with an AI app use my AI allowance?
Yes. Creating and editing count against your plan's AI text allowance, and generating logos, AI photos, languages or a full rewrite uses your AI allowance. The assistant shows the cost and asks before it spends. Looking at your websites is free.
Can I undo a change the assistant made?
Yes. Ask it to undo the last change. The last 25 versions are kept, and a restore can itself be undone.
How do I connect my own domain through the assistant?
Publish the site first, then ask "Connect mydomain.in to my website". If the domain uses our DNS, the records are set for you; otherwise the assistant tells you which records to add, then you ask it to verify the domain.
Can an AI app delete my website or take a payment?
No. An AI app cannot delete a website, take a payment, place an order, or change or cancel a plan. It can unpublish a site, and the content is kept.
I connected ChatGPT earlier and it can only look at my sites. Why?
Connections made before 8 October 2026 only have the permissions that existed then. Disconnect Domain India and connect again, then allow the website permissions.
How do I disconnect an AI app?
In the client area, open Account, Connected apps, and remove the app. It stops working at once.
