Top Web Hosting Companies in India: Features, Pricing & Performance

India has hundreds of web hosting companies, from local registrars and hosting firms to global brands and cloud platforms. Most "top 10" lists online are paid placements or affiliate rankings, so this guide does something more useful: it shows you how to compare any hosting company in India on the things that affect your website, and says honestly where Domain India fits. We are a hosting company ourselves, so we don't rank our competitors.

For the full decision guide

If you still need to decide which type of hosting you need (shared, WordPress, Windows, app platform, VPS or dedicated), read How to choose the best web hosting: a decision guide first. This article is about comparing the companies that sell it.

Key takeaways

Compare hosting companies on what you can check: stated CPU, RAM and storage, the renewal price, how backups work and whether you can restore them yourself, security, the control panel, how support works, and the refund terms. Be wary of "unlimited" plans, first-term discounts that double at renewal, and uptime promises you can't verify. Domain India is a NIXI-accredited .IN registrar with cPanel, DirectAdmin and Webuzo shared hosting from ₹100 a month, backups on every plan (weekly JetBackup on cPanel and DirectAdmin that you restore yourself, nightly on Webuzo), and 24/7 live chat.

1. Why "top hosting company" lists disagree

Search for the best hosting in India and each list names different winners. The main reasons:

  • Affiliate commissions. Many review sites earn a fee for each sign-up, so the highest-paying host often ranks first.
  • First-term prices. Lists quote the discounted first term. The renewal price, which you pay every year after, is often much higher.
  • Different needs. A blogger, an online store and a developer need different things. There is no single best host for everyone.

A better question than "who is the top company?" is "which company is right for what I am building, at a price I will still accept at renewal?"

2. The kinds of hosting companies in India

Type of providerTypical strengthsCheck carefully
Indian hosting companies and domain registrarsRupee billing with GST invoices, Indian payment methods, domain and hosting in one placeServer specs, backup policy and how support works
Large international hosting brandsBig marketing presence, many productsRenewal prices, add-ons sold at checkout, where support is handled
Cloud platformsScale, many regions, pay-as-you-goYou manage the servers yourself; billing can be hard to predict
App platforms (PaaS)Deploy code without managing serversWhat languages and databases are supported

For a business in India, GST-compliant invoices in rupees and payment by UPI, cards or net banking are practical advantages worth weighing.

3. What to compare, company by company

CheckWhy it mattersWhat to ask for
ResourcesCPU and RAM decide how many visitors you can serveStated vCPU, RAM and storage per plan
StorageDisk speed affects WordPress and database sitesNVMe SSD, and enough space for email as well
Renewal priceHosting is a yearly cost, not a one-time purchaseThe price in year two and three, excluding and including GST
BackupsYour recovery plan after a bad update or a hackHow often they run, how many copies are kept, and whether you can restore them yourself
SecurityMost small sites are hacked through old softwareAccount isolation, a web application firewall, malware scanning, free SSL
Control panelYou will use it every weekcPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk: one you or your developer know
SupportSomething will go wrong eventuallyThe channels on offer and a written record of each request
Refund termsYou may find the plan doesn't suit youWhat is refundable and for how long

Two more checks: ask where the servers are, because location affects speed for your visitors, and check that you can download a full backup of your files, databases and email at any time, so you are never locked in.

4. Red flags

"Unlimited" everything
Every plan has limits. If a host won't state CPU, RAM or storage, you will find the limit when your site slows down.
A big first-term discount
Compare the renewal price. A plan that doubles in year two is not cheap.
Guaranteed uptime numbers
Ask what happens when the target is missed. A number without a remedy is marketing.
No clear backup policy
If the plan doesn't say how often backups run and how you restore one, assume you have none.
SSL charged extra
Free SSL is standard in 2026. You shouldn't pay extra for a basic certificate.
Add-ons pre-ticked at checkout
Read the cart before you pay, and remove anything you didn't choose.

5. How to test a host before you commit

  1. Ask a pre-sales question
through the host's support channel and note how quickly and how well it is answered.
  2. Read the refund policy
and check whether your purchase qualifies.
  3. Start small.
Buy the smallest plan that fits, and upgrade when your site needs it.
  4. Move one site first.
Install or migrate a site, then check its speed with Google PageSpeed Insights.
  5. Test a restore.
Find the backup tool in your panel and restore a single file, so you know it works before you need it.

Which is the best web hosting company in India?

There is no single best company for everyone. Compare hosts on stated resources, renewal price, backups you can restore yourself, security, the control panel, support and refund terms, and choose the one that fits what you are building.

Why do online lists of top hosting companies disagree?

Many are affiliate rankings that earn a commission per sign-up, and most quote first-term discounts rather than renewal prices. Check each host's own renewal prices and terms.

Is Indian hosting better for an Indian website?

Server location affects speed for your visitors, so ask where a host's servers are. Indian providers also offer rupee billing with GST invoices and Indian payment methods, which many businesses find simpler.

What should shared hosting include in 2026?

Stated CPU, RAM and NVMe storage, free SSL, account isolation, malware scanning, a web application firewall, regular backups you can restore, and a common control panel such as cPanel or DirectAdmin.

How much does shared hosting cost with Domain India?

From ₹100 a month with DirectAdmin or Webuzo and ₹125 a month with cPanel, excluding 18% GST, as Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026.

Does Domain India offer phone support?

No. Support is by 24/7 live chat and by ticket, and tickets get a first response within 15 minutes. Resolution time depends on the issue.

Can I get a refund if the hosting doesn't suit me?

At Domain India, a new shared or reseller hosting purchase has a full refund within 30 days. Renewals, domain registrations and VPS servers once provisioned are non-refundable.
