You have ordered Windows hosting from Domain India. There is nothing to "activate" by hand: once the invoice is paid, the account is created for you and your login details arrive by email. This page explains what happens next and the first five things to do so your ASP.NET site goes live.

The full Windows hosting guide

Every step below is covered in more depth in the Plesk Windows Hosting Guide.

Key takeaways

Most hosting accounts are created automatically within a couple of minutes of payment; a small number, Windows orders among them, need a manual check and take longer. When it is ready you get the "Your Hosting Account is Ready" email. Then point your domain at the hosting, log in to Plesk from Hosting › My hosting, upload your site to httpdocs, create your database and mailboxes, and turn on SSL.

1. How the account gets set up

  1. Your payment is confirmed.
Card, UPI and net banking confirm in seconds; a bank transfer has to be matched by hand.
  2. The invoice is marked paid.
You can see it under Invoices.
  3. The account is created
on the Windows server with Plesk.
  4. The welcome email is sent
to the address on your Domain India account, with your Plesk address, username and password.

Most hosting accounts are created within a couple of minutes of payment. A small number need a manual check by our team and take longer, and Windows orders are among those that sometimes do. We give no setup-time guarantee. The reasons a setup waits are in How long does it take for my account to be set up. If nothing has appeared after a couple of hours, open a ticket with your invoice number.

No welcome email? You do not need it: everything in it is in the client area. See I didn't get my welcome email.

2. Your first five steps

  1. Point your domain at the hosting.
Use the nameservers or A record for your hosting account, as explained in How do I change my nameservers. A nameserver change can take 24 to 48 hours to reach everyone, so upload your site in the meantime.
  2. Log in to Plesk.
In the client area, open Hosting › My hosting and click Plesk on your domain's row. In most cases it opens already signed in. If it asks for a password, set one under Manage › Access › Reset password.
  3. Upload your application.
Put the site in the httpdocs folder, over FTP on port 21 with explicit TLS or with Web Deploy from Visual Studio. In Plesk's hosting settings for the domain, check that ASP.NET support and the right .NET version are selected.
  4. Create your database and mailboxes.
Add a Microsoft SQL Server database and its user in Plesk, and copy the server name Plesk shows into your connection string. Create email addresses under Mail.
  5. Turn on SSL.
Once the domain points at us, issue the free certificate for the domain in Plesk, then redirect visitors to https://.

3. Common first-day problems
