Domain India sells five KVM VPS plans, from 1 vCPU with 2 GB RAM up to 8 vCPU with 32 GB RAM. This page puts them side by side and gives a quick rule for choosing. Every plan is self-managed with full root access: you run the operating system, security updates and backups yourself.

Key takeaways

Pick a VPS by RAM first: VPS Starter (2 GB) for a small site, API or test server, VPS Basic (4 GB) for a busy WordPress site or a server with a control panel, VPS Standard (8 GB) for several apps or Docker containers, and VPS Pro or VPS Enterprise for heavy databases and many sites. If you don't want to manage a Linux server, shared hosting or the App Platform will suit you better.

The full sizing guide

This page is the quick comparison. For how to estimate RAM, CPU, disk and bandwidth for your own workload, read choosing the right VPS plan.

1. The plans side by side

Specifications and monthly prices from the Domain India catalogue on 24 September 2026, excluding 18% GST:

All plans run on KVM virtualization with NVMe storage and full root access. Check the VPS page for current prices and billing periods before you order.

2. Which plan fits your workload

VPS Starter
A small website or API with one database, a development or test server, a VPN, or learning Linux administration.
VPS Basic
A busy WordPress or PHP site, several small sites, or any server running a control panel. The usual starting point.
VPS Standard
Several applications, Docker containers, a WooCommerce shop with steady traffic, or a database with a large working set.
VPS Pro and Enterprise
Many sites, heavy databases, search engines, build servers, or workloads that need several IPv4 addresses.

Measure what your site or app uses today and choose the smallest plan that fits with 30 to 50% headroom. Memory usually runs out before CPU; when it does, Linux starts stopping processes, often the database first.

3. Operating system and control panel

Choose a current long-term-support Linux release that your software is documented for, such as Ubuntu LTS, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux; the list offered is shown when you order. Avoid releases that have reached end of life, including CentOS Linux.

The VPS page lists these panel options: no panel, CyberPanel, Webuzo or DirectAdmin. cPanel is not offered on Domain India VPS plans; for cPanel, use cPanel shared hosting. A panel uses RAM of its own, so allow for it when you choose a plan. The options are compared in choosing a control panel for your VPS.

4. What self-managed means

A VPS suits you if
  • You are comfortable with SSH, a firewall and package updates
  • You need root access, Docker, background workers or your own database
  • You want dedicated resources rather than a shared account
Think twice if
  • You have never run a Linux server and have no one to call
  • You mainly need a website and email managed for you
  • You would rather deploy an app than look after a server

You are responsible for the operating system, security updates, firewall and backups. Keep copies of important data off the server. The client area has no VPS control page: you reboot from inside the server over SSH, and for a start, stop, reinstall or resize you open a ticket. See managing your VPS: start, stop and reboot.

5. Alternatives to a VPS

  • Shared hosting (cPanel or DirectAdmin) for WordPress and PHP sites where we run the server, email and security.
  • The App Platform for Node.js apps (detected automatically) or anything with a Dockerfile, without looking after a server.

The trade-offs are set out in VPS vs shared hosting.
