Your Domain India account password is the one you type with your email address to sign in at domainindia.com. You can change it any time from the client area, and if you have forgotten it you can reset it yourself by email.

For the full guide

This page covers your client-area password only. For control panel, email, FTP and database passwords, read How can I change my hosting account password.

Key takeaways

Sign in and go to /client/security/password. Enter your current password, then the new one twice, and click Change password. The new password needs at least 8 characters with upper and lower case letters, a number and a special character. You are then signed out and sign in again with the new password.

1. Change your client-area password

  1. Sign in
    to the client area.
  2. Open the Change password page
  3. Enter your current password,
    then the new one in New password and again in Confirm new password.
  4. Check the requirements.
    A strength meter and a checklist update as you type. The page will not accept a password that misses any of them.
  5. Click Change password.
    You see "Password changed. Sign in again." and are taken to the sign-in page.

The requirements are:

  • at least 8 characters;
  • upper and lower case letters;
  • at least one number;
  • at least one special character.

Aim for 12 characters or more. A phrase of four or five unrelated words is strong and easy to type, and a password manager can generate and remember a random one for you.

2. What happens after the change

You are signed out and must sign in again with the new password. Other devices and browsers where you were signed in are signed out too, so a session opened with the old password does not keep working.

Changing this password does not change your cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo or Plesk password, or any mailbox password. Those are separate.

3. Forgotten your password?

You do not need support for this.

  1. Open the reset page
  2. Enter the email address
    on your Domain India account and click Send Reset Link.
  3. Open the email
    and follow the link. Check spam and the Promotions tab if it is not in your inbox. The link expires after 1 hour, so request a new one if it has lapsed.
  4. Set a new password
    and sign in.

Password reset works by email only; there is no phone, SMS or WhatsApp reset. You can request a new link every 5 minutes, and a reset signs you out on every device.

If the email address on your account is one you can no longer read, the reset link cannot reach you. Open a ticket at /support/ticket from the address you want to use, with your name and domain, and support will help you verify the account.

4. Add two-factor authentication

A strong password can still leak. Two-factor authentication adds a six-digit code from an app on your phone, so a password on its own is not enough to sign in. Turn it on under Account › Security; How to enable two-factor authentication walks you through it.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I change my Domain India account password?

Sign in to the client area and open domainindia.com/client/security/password. Enter your current password, then the new one twice, and click Change password.

What are the password requirements?

At least 8 characters, with upper and lower case letters, at least one number and at least one special character. The page shows a checklist and will not accept a password that misses any of them.

Why was I signed out after changing my password?

Changing your password signs you out so you can sign in again with the new one. Other signed-in devices are signed out as well, so nobody holding an old session stays in.

How long is the password reset link valid?

The reset link sent to your email expires after 1 hour. If it has lapsed, request a new one at domainindia.com/client/forgot.

I sign in with Google and have no password. Can I set one?

Yes. Use Forgot password on the sign-in page with your account email address to set a password for the first time.

Does changing my account password change my cPanel password?

No. The client-area password and the control panel password are separate, and changing one never changes the other.

Ready to update it? Change your password at /client/security/password, then turn on two-factor authentication. For your other passwords, read the full password guide.

Change your account password

Enter your current password and the new one twice. It takes less than a minute.
