Almost every web application needs a back office: a place to manage users, orders, content and settings. A pre-built admin panel template gives you that interface ready-made, so you spend your time on the parts of the product that are unique to you. This guide explains the kinds of admin templates available in 2026, how they are licensed, how to choose one, and how to host the result.
An admin template is a ready-made dashboard layout with components such as tables, forms and charts; an admin framework goes further and generates screens from your data. Pick one that matches the stack you already use: React (react-admin, Refine), Laravel (Filament), Django (the built-in admin) or plain Bootstrap and Tailwind templates. Check the licence before you use a paid template in a product you sell, and never rely on the template for security: every permission must be checked on the server.
1. Templates, frameworks and internal-tool builders
"Admin panel" covers three different kinds of product, and choosing the right kind matters more than choosing a brand.
| Kind | What you get | You still build | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| UI template | Layouts, navigation, tables, forms, charts, login pages | All data handling and business logic | AdminLTE, Tabler, CoreUI, TailAdmin |
| Admin framework | Screens generated from your data models or API, with list, create, edit and filter views | Custom pages and rules | react-admin, Refine, Filament, Django admin |
| Internal-tool builder | Drag-and-drop app builder connected to your database or API | Very little code, but less control | Appsmith, Budibase, ToolJet |
A UI template is only the front end. It looks finished in the demo, but none of the buttons do anything until you connect them to your own back end. An admin framework saves far more time for CRUD-heavy work (create, read, update, delete), because it handles lists, pagination, filters and forms for you.
2. Should you use a template at all?
- Weeks of layout and component work already done
- Consistent design, responsive on phones and tablets
- Common features included: tables with sorting and filters, form validation, charts, dark mode
- Large open-source projects are well tested and documented
- Demo pages and sample code you must remove before going live
- Heavy dependencies that you now have to keep updated
- Fighting the template's design when your needs are unusual
- Abandoned templates that stop receiving security updates
A template is usually the right call for an internal back office. For a customer-facing dashboard that is central to your product, a component library plus your own layout often ages better.
3. Popular options by stack in 2026
Choose from the stack you already run. A React admin on top of a Laravel back end is possible, but it doubles what you maintain.
| Stack | Frameworks | UI templates and kits |
|---|---|---|
| React | react-admin, Refine | MUI templates, Ant Design Pro, dashboards built on shadcn/ui |
| Vue | PrimeVue with its free admin template | Vuexy (paid), CoreUI for Vue |
| Angular | None dominant | Angular Material components, CoreUI for Angular |
| Laravel (PHP) | Filament, Laravel Nova (paid) | AdminLTE, Tabler |
| Django (Python) | Built-in Django admin, with themes such as Unfold | AdminLTE-based themes |
| Plain HTML, Bootstrap or Tailwind | None | AdminLTE, Tabler, CoreUI, TailAdmin, Flowbite |
A few notes on the most common choices:
- Filament is a popular choice for new Laravel admin panels. It builds tables, forms and dashboards from PHP classes, and is free and open source.
- react-admin and Refine both talk to any REST or GraphQL API through a data provider, so they work with any back end.
- The Django admin is built in and ready for staff use; add a theme for a more modern look.
Some names from older lists have been renamed or have gone quiet. AdminBro is now AdminJS, and several template packs that were popular a few years ago have had no releases in a long time. Always check the date of the latest release before you commit.
4. Pricing and licences
Admin templates are sold in three ways:
- Free and open source (typically MIT licence): free for commercial use, including products you sell. Examples above include AdminLTE, Tabler, Filament, react-admin and Refine. Some projects also sell a paid "Pro" or "Enterprise" edition with extra components.
- One-time purchase, usually from a template marketplace. Read the licence carefully: on the largest marketplace, a Regular licence covers one end product that end users are not charged for, and an Extended licence is needed when end users pay, such as a SaaS product.
- Subscription: a yearly fee for access to a library of templates and updates, often aimed at agencies.
Budget beyond the licence: the hours to customise it, paid plugins it relies on, and the ongoing work of keeping its dependencies up to date.
5. How to choose
- Start from your back end.Use a framework that fits the language you already run, so the admin shares your models and authentication.
- List the screens you need.Mostly tables and forms points to an admin framework; mostly charts and custom views points to a UI template or component library.
- Check it is maintained.Look at the date of the last release, open issues and the upgrade path to the latest version of its base framework.
- Read the licenceagainst how you will use it, especially for anything you sell.
- Build one real screen first.Wire a single list and edit form to your real data before you commit the whole project.
6. Security: the template won't do it for you
An admin panel is the most valuable target in your application. The risks come mostly from how a template is used, not from the template itself.
- Check every permission on the server. Hiding a menu item in the interface is not access control. Every API call must check the user's role.
- Remove demo pages, sample users and example API keys before you deploy.
- Require strong passwords and two-factor authentication for admin accounts, and limit login attempts.
- Keep dependencies updated. Run
npm auditorcomposer auditregularly, and update the template's base framework. - Don't put secrets in front-end code. Anything shipped to the browser can be read by anyone.
The wider checklist is in OWASP Top 10: practical defence for PHP and Node.js, and token handling is covered in JWT security best practices.
7. Running an admin panel on Domain India
How you host the panel depends on what it is built with.
- A static front end (React, Vue or Angular build). Run the build on your computer and upload the output folder to your site with File Manager or FTP. For client-side routing, add an
.htaccessrewrite that sends unknown paths toindex.html;mod_rewriteand.htaccesswork on our cPanel, DirectAdmin and Webuzo servers. - Laravel with Filament. A Laravel app runs on shared hosting as long as it doesn't need long-running processes such as queue workers. Shared servers disable some PHP functions that Composer needs, so the reliable route is to run Composer on your computer and upload the finished project. See deploying Laravel on cPanel and PHP disabled functions on shared hosting.
- A Node.js back end. Small apps can run with the cPanel or DirectAdmin Node.js tool; see deploying a Node.js app on shared hosting. For production, the App Platform detects Node.js apps automatically and includes a PostgreSQL database; other languages run from a Dockerfile.
- Anything that needs root, Docker or your own services. Use a VPS. VPS plans are self-managed and come without a control panel.
Jailed SSH access is available on every shared hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo). It is off by default; ask support to enable it for your account.
- 512 MB RAM per app
- 1 vCPU
- 5 GB NVMe SSD
- PostgreSQL Database

Frequently asked questions
What is a pre-built admin panel template?
It is a ready-made back-office interface with layouts, navigation, tables, forms and charts. A UI template covers only the front end, while an admin framework such as react-admin, Refine or Filament also generates list and edit screens from your data.
Are free admin templates good enough for production?
Well-maintained open-source templates and frameworks such as AdminLTE, Tabler, Filament, react-admin and Refine are used in production widely. Check that the project still has recent releases, and remove all demo pages before you deploy.
Which admin panel should I use with Laravel?
Filament is a popular choice for new Laravel admin panels and is free and open source. Laravel Nova is a paid alternative. Bootstrap templates such as AdminLTE also work if you prefer to build screens yourself.
Can I use a paid marketplace template in a SaaS product?
Usually only with the right licence. On the largest template marketplace, a Regular licence covers one end product that users are not charged for, and an Extended licence is needed when end users pay. Always read the specific licence.
Does an admin template make my application secure?
No. A template provides the interface only. Every permission must be checked on the server, demo accounts removed, dependencies kept updated and admin logins protected with two-factor authentication.
Can I host an admin panel on Domain India shared hosting?
Yes, for static front-end builds and PHP admin panels such as Laravel with Filament. Build and install dependencies on your computer, then upload. Node.js back ends can use the panel's Node.js tool for small apps or the App Platform for production.
Ready to build? Host a PHP or static admin on cPanel hosting, run a Node.js back end on the App Platform, or choose a VPS for full control.
