Laravel can power anything from a simple task list to a full online store, and most of those apps run well on Domain India cPanel hosting. What decides where an app can live is not its size but whether it needs long-running processes such as queue workers, Redis or websockets. This page maps four typical Laravel projects to our step-by-step guides and tells you which ones fit shared hosting.

Key takeaways

A task manager, a blog and a booking system all run on shared cPanel hosting, and so does a modest online store. Build every project on your own computer, because Composer cannot run on shared hosting, and upload it with its vendor/ folder. Once an app needs real queue workers, Redis, Octane or websockets, move it to a VPS or the App Platform.

Everything about running Laravel on our shared servers (the folder layout, .env, the scheduler cron line, mail and the limits) is in Laravel on cPanel and DirectAdmin: what works, what doesn't, when to move. Read it before you deploy any of the projects below.

1. Four projects, from simple to complex

ProjectWhat it teachesRuns on shared hosting?Guide

Blog platformRelationships (posts, categories, tags, comments), rolesYesBlog platform
Online booking systemTime slots, overlap checks, transactions, remindersYes, with cron-driven remindersOnline booking system
eCommerce storeCart, orders, payments, admin areaYes for a modest store; VPS once you need queue workers or RediseCommerce platform

2. The same workflow for every project

  1. Build locally.
Develop with a current Laravel release and one of Laravel's official starter kits for login. Laravel's documentation lists the PHP version each release needs.
  2. Prepare the production files.
Run composer install --no-dev --optimize-autoloader and npm run build on your computer or in CI.
  3. Create the database
in your control panel and note its name, user and password.
  4. Upload.
Put the project outside public_html and only the contents of public/ inside it, as the deployment guide shows.
  5. Configure .env
with APP_ENV=production, APP_DEBUG=false, your database details, and file-based cache and sessions.
  6. Add the scheduler cron line
in the control panel if your app uses scheduled tasks.
Composer does not run on shared hosting

Shared hosting disables PHP functions such as proc_open that Composer needs, and this applies on the command line too, even with jailed SSH. Run Composer on your computer or in CI and upload the project with vendor/. See PHP disabled functions on shared hosting.

3. Where the line between shared hosting and a VPS falls

These work on shared hosting: web routes, controllers, Eloquent, Blade, Livewire, MySQL from the control panel, file-based cache and sessions, the sync queue, the scheduler run from cron (every 4 minutes at most on shared hosting), and mail through PHP mail() with an envelope sender.

These need a VPS or the App Platform: queue:work daemons and Horizon, Redis, Octane, Reverb websockets, jobs more often than every 4 minutes, and system libraries the panel does not offer. The deployment guide explains why.

For payments, keep card details off your server: use your payment gateway's hosted checkout or its official SDK, and confirm each payment with the gateway's server-side verification before you mark an order paid.

4. Where Domain India fits

Jailed SSH access is available on every shared hosting plan (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webuzo). It is off by default; ask support to enable it for your account. SSH login uses a key. Prices are Domain India list prices on 19 September 2026, excluding 18% GST.

When your app outgrows shared hosting, a VPS gives you root access for workers, Redis and Octane. It is self-managed.

Can I host a Laravel application on Domain India cPanel hosting?

Yes. A standard Laravel app with Blade, Eloquent, MySQL and a cron-driven scheduler runs on shared cPanel hosting. Build it on your computer and upload it with the vendor folder.

Can I run Composer on the server?

No. Shared hosting disables PHP functions that Composer needs, including over jailed SSH. Run composer install on your computer or in CI and upload the result.

Can I run Laravel queue workers or Horizon on shared hosting?

No. Long-running processes are stopped on shared hosting. Use the sync queue, or move to a VPS where a process manager can keep workers running.

Which Laravel project should I build first?

The task manager. It covers authentication, migrations, Eloquent, authorisation and Blade, which every later project builds on.

Does Laravel's SMTP mail work on shared hosting?

Usually not, because the socket functions it needs are disabled. Send through PHP mail() with an envelope sender, as the deployment guide shows.
