Updating Your Live Website

After launch, you will make regular updates to keep content fresh. This guide explains how to safely update your live website.

Edit-Preview-Publish Workflow

  1. Edit — Changes saved as drafts (not visible to visitors)
  2. Preview — See how changes look before going live
  3. Publish — Push changes to your live website

Your live site is not affected until you explicitly publish.

Making Content Updates

  • Text: Click > edit with formatting toolbar
  • Images: Click > Replace > upload new
  • New sections: Click Add Section between existing ones
  • Remove content: Click element/section > Delete

Publishing Updates

Quick (small changes): Edit > Publish immediately.

Large redesigns: Make all changes first, preview all pages, check mobile, publish once.

Content Management Best Practices

  • Weekly: Check for broken links, outdated info
  • Monthly: Update blog, promotions
  • Quarterly: Review and refresh page content, images, testimonials
  • Annually: Redesign or refresh overall look, update copyright year

Adding New Pages Over Time

As your business grows, add portfolio pages, blog posts, landing pages, service pages, and FAQ pages. Set up SEO tags and link from existing pages.

Reverting Changes

Before publishing: Use Undo (Ctrl+Z) or Version History if available.

After publishing: Use Version History to restore previous versions, or manually revert and republish.

Monitoring After Updates

Check updated pages, test mobile layout, submit test forms, monitor analytics for traffic drops, get colleague feedback.
