Email Sending Limits

Yes, Domain India enforces hourly email sending limits on shared hosting accounts to prevent spam, protect server reputation, and ensure reliable email delivery for all customers.

Current Limits

Hosting TypeHourly Limit
cPanel Shared Hosting200 emails per hour per account
DirectAdmin Shared Hosting200 emails per hour per account
Plesk Windows Hosting200 emails per hour per account

These limits apply to the total number of emails sent from your entire hosting account, including:

  • Emails sent from webmail
  • Emails sent from email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)
  • Emails sent by scripts (PHP mail(), WordPress, contact forms, etc.)
  • Emails sent by CMS plugins (WooCommerce order confirmations, notifications, etc.)

What Happens When You Hit the Limit

  • Additional emails are queued and sent in the next hour
  • Your website and existing emails continue to work normally
  • You may receive a bounce-back message indicating the limit was reached
  • The limit resets at the start of each hour

Why These Limits Exist

  • Server IP reputation: Shared hosting servers send email for many customers. Spam from one account affects deliverability for everyone
  • Blacklist prevention: Exceeding reasonable send rates can get the server IP blacklisted
  • Fair usage: Ensures all customers get consistent email service

If You Need to Send More

For newsletters, marketing campaigns, or bulk transactional email, use a dedicated email delivery service:

  • Amazon SES — cost-effective for high volumes
  • Mailgun — developer-friendly transactional email
  • Sendinblue / Brevo — marketing and transactional email
  • SMTP2GO — easy setup, good deliverability

These services integrate with WordPress and other CMS platforms via SMTP plugins (e.g., WP Mail SMTP, Post SMTP).

Tips

  • Use an SMTP plugin in WordPress instead of PHP mail() for better deliverability
  • Monitor your email queue in cPanel under Email → Track Delivery
  • If you are not sending bulk email but hitting limits, check for compromised scripts or contact forms being spammed
  • Contact Domain India support at https://domainindia.com/support if you suspect your account is sending email you did not initiate
