Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Guide

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your {{COMPANY_NAME}} account by requiring a one-time code in addition to your password when logging in.

Why Enable 2FA?

  • Prevents unauthorised access even if your password is compromised
  • Protects your domains, hosting, billing information, and services
  • Required for high-security compliance best practices
  • Gives you peace of mind that your account is secure

How 2FA Works

  1. You enter your email/username and password as usual
  2. You are prompted for a 6-digit verification code
  3. Open your authenticator app on your phone to get the current code
  4. Enter the code to complete login

Setting Up 2FA

  1. Log in to your {{COMPANY_NAME}} client area
  2. Go to My Account → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
  4. A QR code is displayed on screen
  5. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code:

- Google Authenticator (Android/iOS)

- Authy (Android/iOS/Desktop)

- Microsoft Authenticator (Android/iOS)

- 1Password or Bitwarden (if using a password manager with TOTP support)

  1. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app to verify
  2. Save your backup/recovery codes — these allow you to log in if you lose your phone

Backup Codes

  • You receive one-time backup codes when enabling 2FA
  • Store them securely (print or password manager) — each code works once
  • Use a backup code to log in if you lose your phone

Logging In with 2FA

  1. Enter your email and password as usual
  2. Open your authenticator app for the 6-digit code (changes every 30 seconds)
  3. Enter the code and click Verify

Lost Your 2FA Device?

  • Have backup codes? Use one to log in, then re-enable 2FA with a new device
  • No backup codes? Contact {{COMPANY_NAME}} support at {{SUPPORT_URL}} with identity verification (registered email, recent invoice numbers, domain names on the account)

Tips

  • Use Authy for cloud backup of 2FA tokens across devices
  • Never share your QR code or backup codes
  • Enable 2FA on your email account too for maximum security
