Registering Your First Domain
A domain name is your website's address on the internet (e.g., yourbusiness.com). This guide walks you through searching for, registering, and setting up your first domain with {{COMPANY_NAME}}.
Step 1: Search for a Domain
- Go to {{SUPPORT_URL}}
- Use the domain search bar on the homepage or navigate to Domains > Register a New Domain
- Type in your desired domain name (e.g., "mybusiness")
- Click Search or Check Availability
- Results will show availability across multiple extensions (.com, .in, .net, .co.in, etc.)
Step 2: Choose Your Domain
- If your preferred name is available, click Add to Cart
- If it is taken, try a different extension (.in instead of .com) or add a word (e.g., "getmybusiness.com")
- Select your registration period (1 year, 2 years, etc.)
Step 3: Configure Domain Options
- WHOIS Privacy — Hides personal details from public WHOIS. Recommended for .com/.net. (Note: .in domains are redacted by the registry by default.)
- DNS Management and Email Forwarding — Included free with every domain
Step 4: Provide Contact Information
Domain registration requires valid contact details (ICANN/registry rules): registrant name, email, phone, and address. If you have a contact profile saved, it will be pre-filled.
Step 5: Complete Checkout
- Review your cart — domain name, registration period, and any add-ons
- Choose your payment method (credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking, or account credit)
- Click Complete Order
- You will receive an order confirmation email and the domain will be registered within minutes
Step 6: Verify Your Email (If Required)
For some domain extensions, you will receive a verification email from the registry. Click the verification link within 15 days to avoid domain suspension.
After Registration: DNS Setup
Point your domain to your hosting by updating nameservers:
- Go to Domains > click on your domain > Nameservers
- Set the nameservers provided in your hosting welcome email
- DNS changes take 2-24 hours to propagate globally
If you purchased hosting and the domain together, nameservers may be set automatically.
Tips
- Enable auto-renewal so your domain does not expire unexpectedly
- Choose a domain name that is short, memorable, and easy to spell
