Plans, Apps and Limits

App Platform plans differ mainly in how many apps you can run. Every app gets its own container with 512 MB of memory, and every plan includes PostgreSQL, free SSL, custom domains, and deploys from GitHub or a deploy token. This page explains what each plan includes, how to add apps, how upgrades and renewals work, and what the platform doesn't do.

1. What each plan includes

Every plan includes a managed PostgreSQL database, automatic SSL, custom domains, zero-downtime deploys, app logs, and deploys from GitHub or with a deploy token.

2. How memory works

Memory is per app, not shared. Each app runs in its own container with its own 512 MB limit, so one app can't use up another's memory. On App Developer, three apps each get their own 512 MB.

That also means a higher plan adds apps; it doesn't enlarge an app you already run. If a single app needs more than 512 MB, reduce its memory use or talk to us before upgrading. Overview › Metrics shows each app's memory and CPU use, sampled every 60 seconds and kept for 7 days, so you can see what it actually needs.

3. Creating more apps

While your plan has room, you create extra apps yourself, with nothing more to pay.

The page shows how many apps you've used out of your allowance. When you reach the limit, the button changes to Upgrade Plan. Renaming an app changes only the name shown in the client area; its web address stays the same.

4. Scaling processes

A Procfile can declare web and worker process types. In Configure › Scale you set how many containers run for each. Changes take effect within 30 to 60 seconds as containers restart.

• Setting web to 0 stops the app answering requests; visitors get an error until you scale it back up. Nothing is deleted.
• Setting worker to 0 stops background jobs.
• The Scale tab notes that running more containers increases resource use and may affect billing. Ask us first if you're unsure.

5. Changing your plan

Use Change plan on the App Platform page.

• Upgrades raise an invoice for the prorated difference for the rest of the current month. The new plan applies as soon as that invoice is paid. Nothing is charged automatically.
• Moving to a smaller plan is arranged by our team, so unused time is credited correctly. Open a ticket.

6. Removing an app or cancelling

• Deleting an app can't be done from the dashboard. Open a support ticket and we'll remove it. Deleting an app also removes its database and files, so create a backup first in Data › Backups if you want to keep the data.
• Cancelling the subscription is on the app's Overview tab. It stops the next payment. Your apps keep running until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you can undo the cancellation any time before then. Your code, database and files aren't touched when you cancel.

7. Renewal

App Platform plans are billed monthly. We email you an invoice before each renewal date. Nothing is charged automatically and no card is kept on file. Pay the invoice to keep your apps running; if it stays unpaid, the service is eventually suspended. See how auto-renewal works.

8. What the App Platform doesn't include

• No SSH or root access to the server. You manage everything from the dashboard. For a shell, choose a VPS.
• No direct database connection from your own computer; your app reaches its database internally.
• Not built for WordPress or simple brochure sites. Use cPanel hosting or the AI Website Builder.
• Only Node.js is detected automatically. Python, PHP and other languages run from a Dockerfile you provide.
