Once WooCommerce is installed and active on your WordPress site, setting up the store means four jobs: answer WooCommerce's setup questions, work through its settings tabs, add your products, and make the store look like your brand. This page is the short checklist for those jobs on Domain India cPanel hosting; the full guide covers every step in detail, from installing WordPress to your first test order.

The full WooCommerce guide

For the complete walkthrough, including installing WordPress and WooCommerce, Indian payment gateways, GST, order emails, caching and backups, see Installing WooCommerce on Domain India cPanel hosting.

Key takeaways

After activating WooCommerce, answer its setup questions and set the currency to Indian rupee (₹). Then go through WooCommerce › Settings: General, Products, Tax, Shipping, Payments, Accounts & Privacy and Emails. Add products under Products › Add New, choose a theme that supports WooCommerce, and place real test orders with every payment method before you launch.

1. Finish the setup questions

When you activate WooCommerce, it asks about your store: its address in India, your industry and what you plan to sell. Set the currency to Indian rupee (₹). The setup also offers free extensions and services; install only what you will use, because every plugin adds weight and one more thing to update.

WooCommerce creates the Shop, Cart, Checkout and My Account pages for you. Leave them in place; the checkout won't work without them.

2. Work through the settings tabs

All store settings live under WooCommerce › Settings.

TabWhat to set
GeneralStore address, selling and shipping locations, currency (₹), and the switch that turns on tax rates
ProductsShop page, weight and size units, reviews, and stock management under Inventory
TaxYour GST rates (appears once tax is turned on under General); confirm rates with your accountant
ShippingShipping zones, such as your state and the rest of India, with flat-rate or free shipping per zone
PaymentsCash on delivery is built in; Indian gateways such as Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree and PhonePe add UPI, cards and net banking through their own plugins
Accounts & PrivacyGuest checkout, account creation and your privacy policy page
EmailsOrder emails, the sender name and a "from" address on your own domain

Most payment gateways want to see your privacy, terms, shipping and refund pages before they approve your account, so publish those early. For the detail on each gateway, GST and shipping, see section 4 of the full WooCommerce guide.

3. Add your products

Go to Products › Add New and give each product a name, a description in your own words, a price, a main image, a category, and its weight and size if you charge shipping by weight.

  • Simple product: one item at one price.
  • Variable product: one design in several sizes or colours, each with its own price, stock and photo. Create the attributes once under Products › Attributes so every product can reuse them.
  • Stock: turn on stock management so sold-out items can't be ordered.

For a worked example with sizes, colours and size charts, see creating a garments store with WooCommerce.

4. Make the store look like your brand

Choose a theme that says it supports WooCommerce. Install it from Appearance › Themes › Add New Theme, and prefer themes from the WordPress.org directory or a developer you trust; never use "nulled" premium themes, which often carry malware.

  • Block themes are edited under Appearance › Editor, where you can change the shop, product and cart templates, colours and fonts.
  • Classic themes use Appearance › Customize, with menus and widgets.

Add a clear menu (Shop, Cart, My Account, Contact) and link your policy pages in the footer.

5. Add plugins sparingly

Only add a plugin when it solves a real need, such as an SEO plugin or your payment gateway's plugin. Our shared hosting runs the Apache web server, so use WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache for caching, not LiteSpeed Cache, and keep Cart, Checkout and My Account out of the cache. Before you install a mail plugin, read the order-email section of the full guide: most SMTP plugins fail on our cPanel servers, and each cPanel account can send 200 messages per hour.

6. Test before you launch

  1. Order with every payment method,
including cash on delivery, and refund one order.
  2. Check stock and totals.
Stock should go down, and tax and shipping should add up.
  3. Check the emails.
You and the customer should both receive the order emails.
  4. Test on a phone.
Most shoppers in India buy on mobile.

7. Where Domain India fits

The card shows the live price, excluding 18% GST; on 19 September 2026, the Domain India list price was ₹125 a month.

Where are the WooCommerce settings?

In the WordPress dashboard, under WooCommerce › Settings. The tabs cover General, Products, Tax, Shipping, Payments, Accounts & Privacy and Emails.

Which payment methods can I offer in India?

Cash on delivery is built into WooCommerce. For UPI, cards and net banking, install the WooCommerce plugin of an Indian gateway such as Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree or PhonePe after the gateway approves your account.

Can I use LiteSpeed Cache for my store on Domain India hosting?

No. Domain India shared hosting runs the Apache web server, not LiteSpeed. Use WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache, and keep the cart, checkout and my-account pages out of the cache.

Why are my store's order emails not arriving?

Most SMTP mail plugins fail on Domain India cPanel servers because the PHP socket functions they need are disabled. Send through PHP mail() from an address on your own domain, publish SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and stay within 200 messages per hour per cPanel account.
